Job summary

Archetype in Jakarta seeks an experienced Department Manager in Chemical Engineering to lead a multinational engineering team. You will drive annual planning, client development, and project execution, ensuring quality, safety, and on-time delivery across multiple projects.

You will oversee mass/heat balances, PFD/P&ID development, hydraulic sizing, and code compliance, reporting to the Cluster Manager MEP. Fluency in English is required, with strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years’ experience leading a team in multinational professional services (engineering/construction).
• Minimum 2 years’ experience as Department Manager in multinational professional services.
• Preparing Mass & heat balances.
• PFD and P&ID development.
• Hydraulic calculations and line/ control valve sizing.
• Safety valve calculations.
• Awareness and understanding of applicable codes and standards.
• Ability to lead a team.
• Ability to manage multi-project timeframes.
• HAZOP/API/ATEX/NFPA/GMP knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Formulate an annual BSC and/or OP and ensure its realization to achieve objectives.
• Prepare and adjust work plans for department staff to maximize capacity utilization.
• Maintain and develop relations with existing and new clients to detect opportunities and replenish the order portfolio.
• Report to the Cluster Manager MEP on capacity utilization and WIP to inform the department’s financial and operational status.
• Ensure department staff work environment aligns with HR policies and staffing requirements.
• Take responsibility for quality, safety, health, well-being and environment within the department and projects.
• Coordinate communication to staff on methods and production to ensure technical quality.
• Conduct or arrange engineering activities and manage staff within project plans and budgets.
• Estimate and monitor hours and investment costs to ensure design phase activities stay within budget.
