Job summary

PT Freeport Indonesia Inc. seeks an experienced Geo Engineering - Engineer for underground geotechnical work. You will guide design, support and monitoring of geotechnical aspects in underground mines to ensure safe, efficient operations.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Mining/Geotechnical/Civil engineering and at least 2 years in mining or related fields; proficiency with AutoCAD, Vulcan, Deswik, Itasca and RS2/Dips is expected. English fluency is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in engineering (Mining, Geotechnical, or Civil).
• Minimum 2 years in mining industry; underground experience preferred.
• Proficient with AutoCAD, Vulcan, Deswik and geotechnical software.

Responsibilities

• Provide geotechnical recommendations for underground mines.
• Direct design, support, and monitoring of geotechnical aspects.
• Ensure safe and efficient operation of underground facilities.
• Execute drilling plans for monitoring installations.
• Interpret monitoring data and report findings to clients.
• Collect rock characterization data and input into the database.
• Deliver timely technical reports with recommendations.
• Attend regular client meetings and coordinate with teams.
• Develop subordinates’ skills per plan.

About the job Geo Engineering - Engineer, UG Geotech Mine Inf #1

Provide geotechnical recommendations and/or services to the PTFI Underground Mines by directing the design, support and monitoring of geotechnical aspects ofUnderground Mine facilities and operations to ensure safe and efficient operation of Underground Mines.

The key duties and responsibilities of this position are:

1. Zero violation/accident as per PTFI safety regulation, Government policy and industrial standard code

2. Determine ground condition and perform geotechnical analysis in new drift development.

3. Conduct inspection in existing UG infrastructures to determine potential ground movement or damage and provide the geotechnical recommendation to client as required.

4. Execute drilling plans to perform monitoring installation programs such as convergent, extensometer, Elexon system and other sensor arrays.

5. Interpretation of installed monitoring system, including monitoring system health and performance

6. Collecting rock characterization as required from inspection, sampling, drill log and photos, then input into database.

7. Deliver technical report in timely manner with approved geotechnical recommendation.

8. Join regular meetings with clients.

9. Develop skills of subordinates following plans.

The background, education, and work experience needed to succeed in this job are:

Minimum Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, such as Mining, Geodetic or Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in mining industry (underground mine experience is preferable) or batch plant or material inspector.

Core Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Characters)

• Familiar with drafting such as AutoCAD, Vulcan, and Deswik.
• Familiar with finite element software such as Itasca product (FLAC, UDEC etc) or Rocscience product (RS2, Dips, etc).
• Familiar with GIS platform and dashboard monitoring system.
• Having SIM-A driver license
• Communication skills to work in team and client satisfaction oriented.
• Understand Indonesian standardization for mining industry
• Planning/project management: Short-Term goal to meet key challenges.
• Fluent in English written and conversation.
• Understand how to input data into database system.
