Job summary

Austin Engineering Ltd in Batam, Indonesia seeks an experienced FCAW welder to join our fabrication team. You will read blueprints and WPS, prepare materials, weld carbon steel, inspect welds, and support continuous improvement while adhering to safety protocols.

Minimum 2-3 years welding experience required; strong focus on quality and teamwork in heavy fabrication environments. Potential for overtime and on-site work in Batam area.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operate FCAW welding equipment to join, fabricate, and repair metal components according to drawings.
• Read blueprints, WPS, and other technical documents.
• Prepare materials for welding, including cleaning, grinding, and fitting.
• Inspect finished welds for quality and compliance.
• Maintain welding equipment and perform minor repairs.

Job description

• Operate FCAW welding equipment to join, fabricate, and repair metal components according to engineering drawings and specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints, welding procedure specifications (WPS), and other technical documents.
• Prepare materials for welding, including cleaning, grinding, and fitting.
• Inspect finished welds for quality, ensuring compliance with industry standards and company specifications.
• Maintain welding equipment and tools, performing minor repairs and calibrations as needed.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Collaborate with other team members, including fitters, fabricators, and supervisors, to ensure efficient workflow.
• Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting on welding machinery.
• Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards promptly.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and training programs.

Minimum Qualifications

• Vocational High School (SMK) in Welding/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 - 3 years' experience as an FCAW welder in heavy fabrication, mining equipment, shipbuilding, or steel structures, equipment, shipbuilding, or steel structures.

Technical Skills

• Proficient in Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW).
• Experience with 2F, 3F, 4F, 3G, 4G
• Ability to weld carbon steel plates of various thicknesses.
• Familiar with multi-pass welding techniques.
• Able to use grinders and other fabrication tools.
• Able to interpret WPS and welding symbols.
• Able to read engineering drawings and fabrication drawings.
