Batu Karang Group, a nickel mining company in Indonesia, is seeking a senior Environmental Compliance Lead to oversee regulatory adherence, audits, and EMS across mining operations. You will manage programs for air, water, waste, biodiversity, and land rehabilitation, while reporting to KLHK/ESDM and guiding remediation efforts.

The role requires a minimum of 5 years in sustainability/environmental management, strong knowledge of Indonesian mining rules, and experience with PROPER, ISO

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related fields.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Sustainability and/or Environmental Management.
• Strong understanding of Indonesian mining environmental regulations and mandatory compliance requirements.
• Experienced in environmental reporting to KLHK and ESDM.
• Familiar with technical infrastructure and environmental control systems supporting responsible mining operations.
• Possess environmental management certifications such as PPPA, POPAL, or PPLB3.
• Experienced with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification processes.
• Proven experience in PROPER assessment processes.
• POP certification is an advantage.
• Knowledge of IFC Standards, IRMA, and GRI frameworks is an advantage.
• Strong leadership, analytical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsabilités

• Oversee environmental compliance with Indonesian mining regulations, environmental permits, and RKL-RPL requirements.
• Lead the implementation of environmental management programs across mining operations, including air quality, water and wastewater, waste management, biodiversity, and land rehabilitation.
• Manage environmental monitoring, data verification, and regulatory reporting to KLHK and ESDM.
• Identify and assess environmental risks, develop mitigation strategies, and oversee corrective and preventive actions.
• Coordinate internal and external environmental audits, regulatory inspections, and environmental assessments.
• Oversee environmental management systems, documentation, and compliance tracking to ensure regulatory requirements are fulfilled.
• Support environmental certification, ISO compliance, and PROPER assessment processes.
• Lead environmental team performance and coordinate with operational departments to ensure effective environmental management.
• Provide strategic and technical recommendations to management regarding environmental compliance, operational risks, and regulatory requirements.
• Direct and supervise environmental management activities across mining and supporting operations.

Job Description

Oversee environmental compliance with Indonesian mining regulations, environmental permits, and RKL-RPL requirements.

Lead the implementation of environmental management programs across mining operations, including air quality, water and wastewater, waste management, biodiversity, and land rehabilitation.

Manage environmental monitoring, data verification, and regulatory reporting to relevant authorities, including KLHK and ESDM.

Identify and assess environmental risks, develop mitigation strategies, and oversee corrective and preventive actions.

Coordinate internal and external environmental audits, regulatory inspections, and environmental assessments.

Oversee environmental management systems, documentation, and compliance tracking to ensure regulatory requirements are fulfilled.

Support environmental certification, ISO compliance, and PROPER assessment processes.

Lead environmental team performance and coordinate with operational departments to ensure effective environmental management.

Authority & Responsibilities

Provide strategic and technical recommendations to management regarding environmental compliance, operational risks, and regulatory requirements.

Direct and supervise environmental management activities across mining and supporting operations.

Coordinate environmental inspections, audits, investigations, and corrective action implementation.

Recommend improvements to environmental management systems and operational control measures.

Assign responsibilities, monitor team performance, and provide technical guidance to relevant departments.

Report environmental compliance status, key risks, and performance to the Head of ESS.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related fields.

Minimum 5 years of experience in Sustainability and/or Environmental Management.

Strong understanding of Indonesian mining environmental regulations and mandatory compliance requirements.

Experienced in environmental reporting to KLHK and ESDM.
