Job summary

Batu Karang Group is seeking an experienced External Relations professional to develop and sustain relationships with government and local communities across its nickel mining operations in Indonesia.

The role focuses on stakeholder mapping, community engagement, and managing social performance, RI PPM reporting, and grievance mechanisms to support sustainable mining and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in sustainability, social sciences, or related fields.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in CSR, community relations, or development.
• Proven community relations experience in mining.
• Experience with RI PPM reporting is preferred.
• Familiarity with PROPER assessment processes, ISO 14001/45001, IFC/IRMA/GRI is an advantage.

Develop and maintain strategic relationships with government authorities, local communities, community leaders, and other key stakeholders.

Lead stakeholder mapping, social mapping, and community engagement strategies to support sustainable mining operations.

Identify, assess, and mitigate social risks, community concerns, and potential conflicts that may impact business continuity.

Oversee CSR and community development programs, including the planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of PPM initiatives.

Manage community grievance mechanisms and coordinate effective conflict resolution.

Monitor social performance and ensure alignment with applicable regulations, ESG standards, and sustainability commitments.

Lead and supervise external relations, community development, and related social performance functions.

Authority & Responsibilities

Represent the company in external stakeholder engagements within delegated authority.

Provide strategic recommendations to management regarding stakeholder relations, social risks, and community development priorities.

Coordinate cross-functional efforts to address community issues and operational social risks.

Oversee stakeholder engagement programs, community grievance resolution, and social performance reporting.

Direct and evaluate team performance to ensure effective implementation of external relations strategies.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Psychology, Anthropology, Social Sciences, Education, Engineering, or related fields.

Minimum 5 years of experience in CSR, Community Relations, or Community Development.

Proven experience in community relations within the mining industry.

Experienced in preparing and reporting Rencana Induk PPM (RI PPM).

Strong knowledge of social mapping, stakeholder mapping, and PROPER assessment processes.

Familiar with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.

Knowledge of IFC Standards, IRMA, and GRI frameworks is an advantage.

Strong leadership, stakeholder management, communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.

Demonstrates empathy, strategic thinking, and strong problem-solving abilities.
