Job summary

Bumi Laut Group (Jakarta) is seeking an experienced Electrical/Marine Automation Engineer to provide technical support for vessels across the fleet. You will troubleshoot electrical and automation issues, develop maintenance programs, and guide ETOs and crews.

The role requires a Diploma or Bachelor's degree in electrical/marine engineering with at least 5 years of relevant experience onboard ships or in marine service contexts.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Diploma (D3) or Bachelor’s Degree (S1) in Electrical Engineering, Marine Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in marine electrical and/or automation engineering.
  • Experience as an Electrical Superintendent, Senior ETO, Senior Electrical Engineer, Marine Electrical Engineer, or equivalent position is preferred.
  • Experience working onboard vessels or in a ship management company, shipyard, or marine service company.
  • Experience handling tanker, bulk carrier, container vessel, offshore vessel, or other commercial vessels is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to vessels on electrical, electronic, automation, and control system issues.
  • Understand and maintain knowledge of vessel systems and equipment, including PLC, engine safety devices, cargo monitoring systems, and engine propulsion systems.
  • Conduct troubleshooting and root cause analysis (RCA) of electrical and automation system failures.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor preventive and corrective maintenance programs for all vessels.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to ETO, electricians, and vessel crews across the fleet.
  • Prepare scope of work (SOW) for repair, maintenance, retrofit, obsolete equipment replacement, and dry-docking projects.
  • Supervise and monitor the work performed by vendors, contractors, and service engineers.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and capability in the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of navigation equipment and systems.
  • Provide technical recommendations regarding equipment replacement, upgrades, and retrofits.
  • Conduct inspections and monitor the condition and performance of electrical equipment and systems onboard vessels.
  • Support the procurement of electrical and automation spare parts by defining appropriate technical specifications.
  • Maintain a good understanding of applicable marine regulations and industry standards, including IMO, Class, SIRE, and IMCA requirements.
  • Ensure that work documentation, technical reports, and maintenance history are properly maintained, updated, and readily available.

QUALIFICATIONS :

Minimum Diploma (D3) or Bachelor’s Degree (S1) in Electrical Engineering, Marine Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, or a related field.

Minimum 5 years of experience in marine electrical and/or automation engineering.

Experience as an Electrical Superintendent, Senior ETO, Senior Electrical Engineer, Marine Electrical Engineer, Marine Automation Engineer, or equivalent position is preferred.

Experience working onboard vessels or in a ship management company, shipyard, or marine service company.

Experience handling tanker, bulk carrier, container vessel, offshore vessel, or other commercial vessels is preferred.
