PT Armada Rock Karunia Transshipment seeks an experienced Master to oversee navigation safety, focusing on tugboats and SPBs within Indonesia. You will manage watchkeeping and lead safety initiatives across bridge, anchoring, and port operations.
The role requires a proven 6+ years at sea as Master, CO/COC, and STCW compliance, with strong English skills and willingness to travel for onboard inspections. Join a growing offshore transshipment team.
Monitor vessel navigation safety, with a specific focus on navigation, port operations, and anchoring safety for tugboats and Self-Propelled Barges (SPB).
Oversee the watchkeeping performance of Masters and deck officers, including bridge watch, anchoring watch, and port watch operations.
Conduct interviews, recruitment selection, and performance evaluations for Masters and deck officers, assessing their professional competence, safety awareness, and overall work performance in alignment with Company requirements.
Monitor compliance with the Company’s Safety Management System (SMS) through routine and unannounced onboard inspections, ensuring timely follow-up on deficiencies and corrective actions.
Carry out DPA responsibilities, maintaining effective safety communication between shore management and vessels, and escalating significant safety issues to Top Management.
Participate in vessel accident, incident, and Near Miss investigations to identify root causes and recommend actionable corrective and preventive measures (CAPA).
Track navigation risks and adverse weather conditions, providing safety recommendations for heavy weather, restricted waters, and other high-risk operations.
Lead navigation safety training and disseminate lessons learned to enhance the safety awareness and navigational skills of Masters and deck officers.
Job Qualification:
Medically fit, and willing to travel frequently for onboard inspections.
Minimum 6 years of sea-going experience, with proven service as Master.
Experience on tugboats, SPBs, or workboats preferred.
Valid Certificate of Competency (COC) and relevant STCW certificates.
Strong command of navigation safety, bridge watchkeeping, passage planning, and anchoring/port operations.
Sound knowledge of the ISM Code and SMS.
Direct experience as DPA, SMS auditor, or marine inspector is an advantage.
Experienced in accident investigation, Near Miss reporting, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) preferred.
Proficient in English (written and spoken).
Strong safety mindset, high accountability, and the ability to independently identify and correct unsafe onboard practices.
