Job summary

PT Feni Haltim is seeking an experienced Design Manager to join the Planning and Design Management team in East Halmahera, North Maluku. The role serves as the key technical link between the company and Indonesian design institutes and consulting firms, coordinating design work and resolving interface issues through the construction phase of an electric vehicle battery industrial chain project.

• Extensive experience collaborating with Indonesian design firms and consultants; understanding Indonesian design workflows and standards.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical liaison between Planning and Design Management and Indonesian design institutes; manage daily technical communication and feedback on design requirements.
• Coordinate design interfaces across disciplines; review deliverables for completeness and consistency; drive issue resolution through a closed-loop process.
• Translate technical requirements and documents into Indonesian and English; review technical documents and drawings to ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Organize and chair coordination meetings; prepare agendas and materials; draft minutes in Chinese and Indonesian; track action items.
• Establish standardized communication processes with Indonesian partners; submit progress reports and identify major technical risks with mitigation strategies.
• Assist liaising with Kementerian PUPR and other authorities on design reviews and standards; track design changes and site implementations.
• Coordinate major technical interface issues during construction; participate in final acceptance inspections and interface handovers.

Job description

PT Feni Haltim is seeking an experienced Design Manager to join our Planning and Design Management team in East Halmahera, North of Maluku. This is a full-time, department-level position serving as the key technical link between our company and Indonesian design institutes and consulting firms. You will be responsible for coordinating design work, ensuring design deliverables meet the project's overall technical requirements, and resolving design interface issues throughout the construction phase of our electric vehicle battery industrial chain project.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical liaison between the Planning and Design Management Team and the Indonesian Design Institute, handling daily technical communication, conveying design intent, and providing feedback to ensure design requirements, technical standards and management requirements are accurately understood and implemented
• Maintain close communication with consultants across all disciplines, coordinate design interfaces, review the completeness and consistency of design deliverables, and drive the resolution of interdisciplinary design issues through a closed-loop process
• Accurately translate technical requirements, design standards, drawing review comments and other documents into Indonesian and English, and assist in reviewing technical documents, calculation reports, drawings and specifications submitted by the Indonesian design institute and consultants to ensure compliance with the project's overall technical requirements
• Establish a mechanism for interface numbering, tracking and closure; unify design benchmarks and management processes; and coordinate design interfaces among Indonesian design institutes, various disciplines and sub-projects
• Organize and chair regular technical coordination meetings and specialized technical seminars with Indonesian design institutes and consulting firms; prepare meeting agendas and technical background materials; draft meeting minutes in both Chinese and Indonesian; and follow up on the implementation of meeting resolutions
• Establish standardized communication processes with Indonesian partners for efficient technical information flow; submit regular progress reports on technical coordination to the Planning and Design Management Group, identify major technical risks and propose mitigation strategies
• Assist in liaising with the Indonesian Ministry of Public Works and Housing (Kementerian PUPR) and other relevant government authorities on matters such as design reviews and consultations on technical standards
• Collaborate with the supervising unit to organize drawing reviews; coordinate with the design institute to address technical questions raised at the construction site; and track the technical coordination and on-site implementation of design changes
• Coordinate major technical interface issues related to design during the construction phase to ensure design intent is correctly implemented; participate in final acceptance inspections and interface handover procedures

What we’re looking for

• Good command of spoken Mandarin
• Minimum of 10 years' relevant work experience in engineering/design and engineering management in Indonesia, including at least 3 years in an engineering/design management role with interdisciplinary coordination responsibilities
• Extensive experience collaborating with local Indonesian design firms (Konsultan Perencana) and specialized consulting firms, with a thorough understanding of the workflows and standards of the Indonesian design consulting industry
• Experience in design coordination for large-scale industrial projects, commercial complexes or infrastructure projects will be given preference
• Candidates with experience collaborating with Chinese-funded enterprises or international project teams will be given preference
• Preferably domiciled in East Halmahera, North Maluku
• Willing to work in the East Halmahera area on a roster system
