Job summary

Wesco is seeking a Technician - Data Center to maintain and troubleshoot data center hardware and network devices across project locations. You will perform server and storage sweeps, diagnose connectivity issues, and engage vendor support when needed.

Responsibilities include managing RMAs, assisting with installations and decommissions, maintaining documentation, and supporting capacity planning. Some travel to sites is required, and a strong focus on safety and accuracy is essential.

Qualifications

• Fluent English required.
• CCNA and CCNP preferred.
• 2 years in an enterprise Data Center environment preferred.
• Proficient in troubleshooting server hardware and network connectivity.
• Experience with Ethernet RJ45 uplinks and LC/MPO fiber is beneficial.
• Ability to travel 0%–25% and lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Perform weekly sweeps of server and storage equipment in the data center, detecting hardware and network issues.
• Diagnose server and storage connectivity issues and perform basic troubleshooting of network/transceiver and fiber signals.
• Engage vendor support by opening cases and following up on hardware fixes.
• Coordinate with data center operations for break-and-fix logistics and vendor escorts.
• Oversee Return Material Authorization (RMA) processes for components.
• Provide hardware support for installations, moves, additions, and changes; decommission IT equipment.
• Conduct regular physical inspections and maintain asset inventory with cycle counts.
• Update documentation for structured cabling and patch panels; monitor space, power, and cooling capacity.
• Understand incident and change management processes; submit regular activity reports.
