Job summary

People Search International seeks a Construction Manager to lead on-site execution at a gold mine operation. You will translate engineering drawings into built structures while ensuring safety, quality, and production timelines.

The role requires supervising crews, coordinating with engineering and operations, and enforcing strict QHSE standards at a remote mine site.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Civil, Mining or Mechanical Engineering (Diploma accepted with strong field experience).
  • 8–12 years construction experience, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
  • Mandatory mining or large-scale heavy industrial construction experience.
  • Hands-on earthworks, tailings, process plant construction, or mine infrastructure experience preferred.
  • Able to read/interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and construction specs.
  • Proficient with Primavera P6, MS Project or similar scheduling software.
  • Knowledge of Indonesian K3 Konstruksi, PUPR standards and permit requirements.
  • Willingness to work on rotation (e.g., 4/2, 5/2) at remote mine sites.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day construction activities including civil works, structural steel, concrete, earthworks, and mechanical/electrical installation on mine site.
  • Plan, schedule, and sequence work packages to align with project milestones and production requirements.
  • Supervise subcontractors, crews, and inspectors; ensure workmanship quality meets specs.
  • Enforce QHSE compliance on site with zero-tolerance to safety violations.
  • Conduct daily/weekly site meetings; track progress and report deviations to Project Manager.
  • Manage RFIs, site instructions, and design clarifications between field teams and engineering.
  • Control on-site budgets: monitor labor hours, materials, and equipment against approved cost plans.
  • Oversee commissioning and pre-commissioning activities with Process/Operations teams.
  • Coordinate with environmental and permit teams to ensure AMDAL compliance.
  • Maintain accurate construction records: daily reports, as-builts, ITRs, and punch lists.
  • Facilitate handover to operations with closeout docs.

Job description

The Construction Manager is the on-site execution authority for all construction activities at a gold mine operation. Think of this role as the conductor of a very large, very dangerous orchestra,every trade, every contractor, every piece of heavy equipment must hit the right note at the right time. One missed cue can cost lives, budget, and schedule simultaneously. This role bridges design intent and physical reality. You translate engineering drawings into built structures, infrastructure, and facilities that meet mine specifications, safety codes, and production timelines.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and manage day-to-day construction activities including civil works, structural steel, concrete, earthworks, and mechanical/electrical installation on mine site.
  • Plan, schedule, and sequence construction work packages to align with project milestones and production requirements.
  • Supervise subcontractors, construction crews, and third-party inspectors; ensure workmanship quality meets project specifications and standards.
  • Enforce QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety, Environment) compliance on site - zero-tolerance approach to safety violations.
  • Conduct daily and weekly site meetings; track progress against baseline schedule and report deviations to the Project Manager.
  • Manage construction RFIs (Requests for Information), site instructions, and design clarifications between field teams and engineering.
  • Control construction budgets at site level:monitor labor hours, material consumption, and equipment utilization against approved cost plans.
  • Oversee construction commissioning and pre-commissioning activities in coordination with Process/Operations teams.
  • Coordinate with environmental and permit teams to ensure all construction activities comply with AMDAL and local government regulations.
  • Maintain accurate construction records: daily reports, as-built drawings, inspection test records (ITRs), and punch lists.
  • Facilitate construction handover to operations:ensure all closeout documentation, red-lines, and O&M; manuals are submitted.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline. Diploma (D3/D4) accepted with exceptional field experience.
  • Minimum 8-12 years of construction experience, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or superintendent role.
  • Mandatory: demonstrated experience in mining (gold, copper, coal, or nickel) or large-scale heavy industrial construction.
  • Hands-on experience with earthworks, cut & fill, tailings, process plant construction, or mine infrastructure is highly preferred.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, P&IDs;, and construction specifications.
  • Familiar with construction management tools: Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent scheduling software.
  • Strong understanding of Indonesian construction safety regulations (K3 Konstruksi), PUPR standards, and site permit requirements.
  • Willingness and ability to work on a rotational schedule (e.g., 4/2, 5/2) in remote mine site locations.
