Job summary

Wira's Playroom in South Jakarta is seeking a Class Room Lead (Special Education Teacher) to provide high-quality inclusive education for primary-aged children with special needs. You will design and deliver tailored lessons, lead a team of classroom assistants, and collaborate with parents and specialists to support each child’s development.

The role requires a recognised Special Education or Early Childhood Education qualification and at least 3 years of teaching experience.

Qualifications

• Qualified in Special Education or Early Childhood Education.
• Minimum 3 years teaching experience in primary or special education.
• Experience with diverse special needs including LD, delays, autism and behavioral challenges.
• Knowledge of inclusive education principles and practices.
• Experience developing individualised education plans.
• Excellent classroom management and nurturing environment.
• Excellent English; Indonesian fluency desirable.
• Valid background check to work with children.

About the role

Wira's Playroom is seeking an Class Room Lead (Special Education Teacher) to join our team in South Jakarta, Jakarta. This is a full-time position that plays a vital role in our commitment to providing exceptional educational support and inclusive learning environments for children with diverse needs. As a Class Room Lead, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality special education instruction, fostering a supportive classroom environment, and ensuring every child reaches their full potential within a nurturing and developmentally appropriate setting.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver individualised and group-based lessons tailored to meet the specific learning needs, abilities and developmental stages of students with special educational needs
• Create and maintain a safe, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment that promotes emotional, social, cognitive and physical development
• Develop and implement personalised education plans (PEPs) in collaboration with parents, guardians, specialists and support staff
• Monitor and assess student progress regularly, documenting developmental milestones and adjusting teaching strategies as needed to support learning objectives
• Implement evidence-based teaching methodologies and interventions appropriate for students with varying abilities and learning differences
• Lead, supervise and mentor classroom support staff and teaching assistants, ensuring quality delivery of support services
• Communicate effectively and regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, achievements and areas for development
• Collaborate with other educators, specialists, therapists and support services to provide holistic and coordinated support for each student
• Maintain detailed records of student attendance, behaviour, progress and any incidents or concerns
• Participate in ongoing professional development and training to stay current with special education best practices and methodologies

What we're looking for

• A recognised teaching qualification or degree in Special Education / Early Childhood Education
• Minimum of 3 years' experience working as a teacher in primary education or special education settings
• Demonstrated expertise in working with children with a range of special educational needs, including but not limited to: learning disabilities, developmental delays, autism spectrum disorder, and emotional or behavioural difficulties
• Strong knowledge and understanding of inclusive education principles and practices that celebrate diversity and promote equal opportunity
• Experience in developing and implementing individualised education plans and adapting curriculum to meet diverse learning needs
• Excellent classroom management skills with the ability to create a positive, structured and nurturing learning environment
• Proven ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, colleagues and external professionals in a clear and empathetic manner
• Strong observational and assessment skills with the ability to identify individual learning needs and respond with appropriate interventions
• A compassionate, patient and enthusiastic approach to working with children and families
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; fluency in Indonesian is highly desirable
• Valid background check and clearance to work with children
