Job summary

Meratus Line calls for a Chief Officer to lead cargo planning, supervise loading and stowage, and ensure vessel stability and regulatory compliance. You will coordinate lashing, dangerous goods handling, and ship safety procedures with the Master and operations teams.

Responsibilities include monitoring stability and strength, supervising deck crew, maintaining documentation, and ensuring safe mooring, watchkeeping, and PMS-based maintenance aboard container vessels.

Qualifications

• Must hold STCW-compliant marine certificates and be ready for continuous training.
• Experience leading deck operations and cargo teams on container vessels.
• Strong knowledge of IMDG rules and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review cargo stowage plans for vessel safety.
• Supervise loading/discharging to match the approved plan.
• Ensure proper lashing/unlashings per CSM and procedures.
• Monitor stability, trim, drafts, and forces during operations.
• Oversee dangerous goods handling and documentation per IMDG.
• Act as Ship's Safety Officer and implement SMS per ISM.
• Train and supervise deck crew for safe operations.
• Oversee deck and hull maintenance per PMS.
• Coordinate mooring and unmooring for safe berthing.
• Perform navigational watchkeeping as assigned and assist Master.
• Maintain cargo safety records and compliance paperwork.
