PT. Daewoong Pharmaceutical Indonesia seeks a seasoned Business Development professional to drive growth through strategic partnerships, market expansion, and export opportunities. The role collaborates with RA, Marketing, and Sales to evaluate new products and negotiate partnerships with international and local partners.
Ideal candidate has 5+ years in BD within pharma/healthcare, strong analytical and financial modeling capabilities, and fluency in English; Korean is a plus. MBA is preferred.
About the role
At Daewoong Pharmaceutical Indonesia, the Business Development Team together with the Indonesia Business Team from the Headquarter will lead and coordinate business development initiatives to expand Daewoong’s market presence in Indonesia. It is a lean and focused unit driving strategic growth through export expansion, local CMO and CSO partnerships, and the identification of new product opportunities. The BD team in Indonesia comprises a Business Development Supervisor and a Junior Associate, working closely together to execute initiatives that align with both corporate direction and local market needs. The Supervisor leads with strategic oversight and project ownership, managing external partner relationships and overseeing regulatory and commercial alignment, while the Junior supports through detailed market research, documentation, and cross-functional coordination. Agile and execution-focused, the BD Team in Indonesia plays a key role in shaping the company’s future in Indonesia by connecting innovation, operations, and partnerships across the healthcare landscape.
Key responsibilities
Identify and evaluate promising pharmaceutical products (including FDC) for introduction into the Indonesian market
Conduct feasibility studies in coordination with RA and Marketing, including market demand, pricing, profitability, and commercialization potential
Lead or support in-licensing and technology transfer discussions with overseas pharmaceutical companies
Negotiate commercial terms and coordinate contract development for the import and commercialization of promising products.
Identify and assess local CMO/toll-in partners, including manufacturing feasibility, TKDN requirements, quotations, and manufacturing agreement preparation
Identify and evaluate potential CSO partners for approved pharmaceutical products, including sales force capability, coverage, commercial proposals.
Lead discussions and negotiations with shortlisted CMO and CSO partners to align business requirements and finalize partnership agreements
Manage projects from initial evaluation through launch and facilitate handover to Marketing after commercialization
2) Cross-functional Planning & Leadership
Prepare and consolidate annual business plans: sales forecasts, budgets, product pipelines, and partner plans
Maintain strategic relationships with global/local partners, authorities, and KOLs
Coordinate cross-functional collaboration among BD, RA, Marketing, SCM, Finance, and other relevant teams
Supervise and mentor junior BD members in project coordination, partner communication, and documentation
Report key business insights, risks, project progress, and performance updates to HQ and regional leadership
3) Export Business Development (after Chemical Factory completion)
Evaluate international market potential and develop export opportunities
Manage feasibility studies (regulatory, pricing, market forecast) and partner proposals
Lead technical communication with regional partners and coordinate agreement drafts
Oversee project timelines and ensure alignment for regulatory approval and launch
Support export sales planning, budgeting, and reporting to HQ
What we're looking for
1) Required Qualification
Education: Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, Medicine, or a related field; MBA preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development, preferably in the pharmaceutical ETC or healthcare sector.
Language skills: Fluency in English is required; Korean language fluency is a plus.
2) Preferred Qualification
5+ years experience in business development, preferably in pharmaceutical/medical device industry
Deep knowledge of Indonesian pharmaceutical regulations (BPOM, e-catalog, TKDN) and healthcare trends
Strong analytical and financial modeling skills (P&L, forecasting, pricing)
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional projects and partnerships
Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
High adaptability in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
Strong problem-solving attitude, self-motivated and result-driven
