Job summary

Rhenus Logistics in Surabaya is seeking an accomplished Branch Manager to oversee the entire operations, sales and marketing of the Branch Office. You will ensure smooth workflow and promote continuous improvement, handle day-to-day problems, and coordinate with operations team to avoid overlaps.

You will monitor profitability, review rates with shipping lines and truckers, conduct regular meetings with sales and operations, and drive cost control.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain, business administration, or related field.
• 5–8 years of freight forwarding and logistics experience.
• At least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of sea freight, air freight, customs clearance, and logistics operations.
• Proven track record in branch management, business development, sales growth, cost control, profitability management.
• Strong leadership, people management, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent customer relationship management and business networking capabilities.
• Proficient in English and Bahasa Indonesia.
• Willing to be based in Surabaya.

Responsibilities

• Solving day to day problems and prevention of service failures.
• Attends and replies to operational inquiries by clients, agents and other partners in coordination with operations team.
• Monitors and ensures that all job files are closed on time.
• Negotiates and reviews rates from shipping companies and truckers; builds partnerships.
• Conducts meetings with sales and operations teams to review performance.
• Monitors costs of the Branch Office and drives cost control.
• Ensures team integrity through workload management, motivation and training needs.
• Represents the company in Sea freight / Air freight meetings with clients and partners.
• Responsible for profitability of the department; reports losses with reasons to MD Indonesia.
• Reviews billing approvals from shipping companies prior to payment requests.
• Develops products and strategies under guidance of the Managing Director.
• Responsible for development of the company’s Project Logistics.
• Maintains good knowledge of freight forwarding and logistics services.
• Exhibits strong interpersonal and communication skills; acts as a team player.
• Communicates effectively in Bahasa Indonesia and English.

• Conducts meetings with sales and operations people on a regular basis or as need arise. This is to review and assess the performance of the staff and the whole department.
• Monitoring and control of costs of Branch office.
• Ensures team integrity by effectively managing workloads, motivation and team-building.
• Identifies training needs of team members under coordination.
• Represents the company on Sea freight / Air freight operational related meetings which clients, shipping companies.
• Responsible that Jobs are profitable and reports loss making jobs with reason to MD Indonesia at the end of every month
• Reviews approval of billings from shipping companies and others operational related billings prior to request for payment by the Sea and Air freight operations staff concerned.
• Develops products and strategies under guidance and instruction of the Managing Director.
• Responsible for gross profitability of the entire department.
• Provision of monthly performance reports to the Managing Director.
• Drive forward product development with overseas partners, e.g. Sharing of Service Contracts.
• Responsible for the development of the company’s Project Logistics.
• Good knowledge of freight forwarding and logistics service.
• Good interpersonal and communication skill and a team player
• Be able to communicate effectively with good command of Bahasa and English.

What You Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum 5–8 years of experience in freight forwarding and logistics, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of sea freight, air freight, customs clearance, and logistics operations.
• Proven track record in branch management, business development, sales growth, cost control, and profitability management.
• Strong leadership, people management, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent customer relationship management and business networking capabilities.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to develop business strategies and achieve revenue and profitability targets.
• Proficient in English and Bahasa Indonesia, both written and spoken.
• Willing to be based in Surabaya.
