PT OTA Indonesia (Otazen), a growing independent global-scale furniture manufacturing company, is looking for a technically minded BOM & Costing Engineer to join our BOM & Costing team in the Technical Department. You will read engineering drawings and break each product down into its materials, components, and hardware, then turn that into accurate costs. This is a technical role: your work starts from drawings and construction details, not from financial statements.
Key responsibilities
- Read engineering and shop drawings, and break furniture products down into a complete BOM (wood, panels, veneer, upholstery, hardware, accessories, and finishing materials)
- Calculate material dimensions, quantities, and waste/yield based on construction details and cutting requirements
- Calculate product and project costs from the BOM, according to client requests, target prices, and deadlines
- Review drawings and breakdowns to make sure materials do not exceed the costing estimate, and propose alternative materials or construction methods to meet target prices
- Create and update BOM data in Odoo accurately and on time
- Build and maintain the material, hardware, and price database, including new materials and new hardware
- Coordinate with the Technical Drawing team, Purchasing, PPIC, Production, and Marketing on specifications, material needs, and prices
- Compare estimated and actual material usage, and report variances
- Prepare daily reports and join morning briefings with the TE Manager
About you
- Technical background is required: Diploma (D3) or Bachelor’s degree in Wood Engineering/Technology, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design, or a related technical field
- Minimum 1–3 years of experience in BOM preparation, cost estimation, drafting, or production engineering, preferably in furniture or wood manufacturing. Drafters and production engineers who want to move into BOM and costing are welcome to apply
- Able to read technical and shop drawings and calculate material quantities accurately
- Understanding of furniture materials, hardware, finishing, and construction methods
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with AutoCAD or SketchUp and experience with Odoo or another ERP are added values
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Good communication skills, including in English
- Able to coordinate across teams and work to deadlines
What we offer
- BPJS Employment & Health Insurance
- Training in furniture BOM & costing preparation and product knowledge
- Direct involvement from estimation to production execution
