Job description

We're looking for a Backend Developer to join a growing engineering team building and maintaining backend systems for an ERP platform used in the retail industry (US market). You'll own backend features end-to-end (from APIs and integrations to database structures) while working closely with Product, Frontend, QA, and DevOps to ship reliable, production-ready solutions. This role also involves supporting and mentoring junior team members as the team scales.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, maintain, and improve backend services, APIs, integrations, database structures, and application logic.
• Develop and maintain features including authentication, authorization, data flow, validation, and error handling.
• Integrate backend systems with third-party services, including payment gateways.
• Troubleshoot and resolve backend bugs, performance bottlenecks, and integration issues through structured debugging.
• Identify technical debt and reliability risks, and propose practical improvements.
• Participate in technical planning, task breakdown, code review, and release preparation.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Frontend, QA, and DevOps to ensure backend work supports shared delivery goals.
• Provide guidance and support to junior backend team members through review, mentoring, and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• Minimum 1-2 years of professional backend development experience.
• Education background is open. We prioritize hands-on skills over formal degree.
• Strong hands-on experience with PHP (Laravel).
• Solid understanding of MySQL or other relational databases.
• Familiarity with AWS or other cloud infrastructure.
• Experience integrating with payment gateways.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
• Able to write clean, secure, and maintainable code.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with high attention to detail.
• Fast learner, able to adapt quickly to new tools, systems, or requirements.
• Strong teamwork mindset, willing to communicate and support junior team members.
• Fluent in English, spoken and written (day-to-day communication is in English).
• Able to bring own laptop with minimum 16GB RAM.
• Available to start within one month or sooner.

Nice to Have (not mandatory)

• Experience with Golang (team is considering migration in the future).
• Background in SaaS, ERP, or POS systems.
• Experience integrating with delivery/routing systems.
