Job summary

PaxOcean is seeking a Contracts Manager to oversee contractual matters across the full project lifecycle—from tender and negotiation through execution, claims and change management to close-out. The role provides strategic support to Project Managers, ensuring compliance, risk control and protection of the company’s commercial interests.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor degree required.
• Minimum 8 years in contracts/subcontracts or legal function at a managerial/lead level in shipbuilding or oil & gas sectors.
• Minimum 5 years as a member of a Project Management Team preferred.
• Good understanding of CapEx project lifecycle and large project value.
• Proficiency in MS Office and strong communications in English and Bahasa Indonesia.

The role provides strategic contractual support to Project Managers and project teams, ensuring contractual compliance, effective risk management, and protection of the Company’s commercial and contractual interests.

The position also plays a key role in identifying and mitigating contractual risks, managing claims, disputes and change orders, and strengthening contract governance and processes to support successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Job Description

• This role reports to the Senior Contracts Manager and support Project Managers and project team on all aspects of contract management over the entire project lifecycle – involvement starts from contract negotiation during the tender stage to contract administration during execution and eventually completion and contract close-out.
• Work with Project team to fulfil contract performance against contractual obligations, ensuring compliance with contract terms, preparation and maintaining contemporaneous records and notifications, managing non-routine change requests, contractual claims, disputes, settlements and resolution throughout the project lifecycle.
• Work with Project team to track project milestones, payment stages, verify and prepare claims, Change Orders to Client from a contractual perspective.
• Anticipate any potential issues such as delays or disputes that may arise in the project, raise for discussion with Legal to work out appropriate strategy to resolve or mitigate the impact of such issues / disputes.
• Support the procurement and subcontracting teams with compliance of key flow downs and critical terms from the main contract. Where required support the development of frame agreements for strategic suppliers / subcontractors or templates and forms to improve work processes and governance.
• Providing guidance and training to project teams on workflow, procedure to secure contract compliance.
• Organize and conduct contract familiarization and change management workshops for Project team to ensure team are aligned on the Project’s contractual risks and opportunities.
• Proactively engage in continuous improvement and review of existing processes, systems and policies that may support the project’s contract management and administration.

Risk Management

Enforce governance of internal processes to identify potential challenges or problems before they occur during projects execution; contracts administration, cost management etc.

Preferred Experience

• Diploma or Bachelor degree.
• Minimum 8 years Contracts or Subcontracts or Legal function working experience in capacity of Manager, Principal or Lead for Ship Building or Oil and Gas and Petrochemical industry equivalent project experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as member of Project Management Team preferred.
• Good understanding of CapEx Project Lifecycle and experience of Project value at minimum USD 100 million preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office generally.
• Strong communications skills and good command of written and spoken Bahasa Indonesian and English.
• Ability to work independently.
• Experience with working in Indonesia a plus.
