Job summary

Accor Makassar hotel is seeking a hands‑on Chief Engineer to lead the engineering department, oversee preventative maintenance, and drive safe, high‑quality service across the property. You will coach the engineering team, manage priorities, support capital projects, and collaborate with other departments to deliver a seamless luxury guest experience.

The role requires strong technical knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and building services, with a proactive, solutions‑focused mindset.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a hotel engineering, facilities management or maintenance leadership role, ideally within a five star hotel, premium hospitality environment or large-scale facility.
• Demonstrated experience leading and developing engineering teams in a fast-paced operational environment.
• Strong technical knowledge across building services, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing and general maintenance systems.
• Sound understanding of preventative maintenance programs, contractor management, WHS and statutory compliance requirements.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across departments.
• A proactive, solutions-focused approach with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the Chief Engineer in leading the Engineering department and daily operations across the hotel.
• Overseeing preventative maintenance programs and the performance of building services, plant and equipment.
• Leading, coaching and developing the engineering team while promoting a strong safety culture.
• Managing maintenance priorities, contractor works and compliance requirements to the highest standard.
• Supporting capital projects, sustainability initiatives and continuous improvement programs.
• Working closely with operational departments to ensure a seamless luxury guest experience.
• Acting as the department leader in the absence of the Chief Engineer and providing hands-on technical support when required.
