Job summary

Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok, seeks a Chief Engineer to lead the Engineering team. You will supervise engineers, support maintenance programs, and ensure safe, efficient hotel operations across all plant systems.

You will analyze energy use, report to the Director of Engineering, and help prepare budgets for repairs and heat, light & power. English and Thai communication are essential, and a flexible, guest-focused mindset is required.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise Senior Engineers, Duty Engineers, to read the daily engineering log book and to take the necessary action.
• Assist Director of Engineering in the implementation of a fully comprehensive maintenance programme.
• Ensure that the records of equipment card system are kept up-to-date.
• Monitor and control the work request/order distribution and arrangement to ensure that the routine and special work requests/orders are completed in time and arranged properly.
• Spot check to ensure that the work as detailed in the maintenance order has been executed in the most practical, skilful and economical manner.
• Report to Director of Engineering immediately in any unusual events occurred, whether it is in respect of the engineering operation - physical plant or personnel.
• Analyse and prepare on a monthly basis the heat, light and power consumption figures for submission to Director of Engineering and make recommendations in respect of changes in plant or system that may result in conserving energy.
• Consult with Director of Engineering in the event of dismantling any equipment may affect the operation of the hotel in anyway, in particular guest areas.
• Ensure that the Engineering Policy & Procedure are implemented and adhered to.
• Provide input and assist the Director of Engineering in preparing the annual repair & maintenance works, and Heat, light & Power budgets.
• Always be familiar with the locations of all fire- fighting equipment plant and machinery operations and characteristics, and relationship with hotel operation to ensure that planning of Engineering works is smoothly carried out.
