Job summary

Potato Head Bali seeks an Assistant Chief Engineer to support the Chief Engineer in overseeing hotel engineering, maintenance and energy management systems. This hands-on leadership role ensures HVAC, electrical and plumbing work reliably behind the scenes for guest comfort.

You will lead the engineering team day-to-day while shaping long-term priorities in energy efficiency, capital planning and preventive maintenance across the property.

Qualifications

• Experience in hotel engineering, preferably luxury hotels or large resorts.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Civil).
• Proven ability to lead, coach and develop a technical team and manage budgets.
• Familiarity with EMS or similar digital maintenance tools.

Responsibilities

• Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance across the property to keep systems reliable and guest-ready.
• Lead the engineering team and maintain high safety, quality and technical standards.
• Drive energy-saving initiatives and manage maintenance resources and budgets efficiently.
• Own urgent technical issues, contractor coordination, safety audits and projects.

We are looking for an Assistant Chief Engineer to support the Chief Engineer in overseeing the hotel's engineering, maintenance and energy management systems. This is a hands‑on leadership role at the intersection of technical operations, safety and sustainability — ensuring that everything from HVAC to electrical to plumbing works quietly and reliably behind the scenes, so guests and teams never have to think about it.

A major part of the role is leading the engineering team's day‑to‑day performance, while also shaping longer‑term priorities around energy efficiency, capital planning and preventive maintenance across the property.

What You’ll Do

• Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance across the property, keeping HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other technical systems reliable and guest‑ready
• Guide and develop the engineering team while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and technical performance
• Drive energy‑saving initiatives, monitor utility performance, and manage maintenance resources and budgets with efficiency in mind
• Take ownership of urgent technical issues, contractor coordination, safety audits, spare parts, and engineering projects from day‑to‑day needs to longer‑term improvements

What You Bring

• Proven experience in hotel engineering, ideally within luxury hotels or large‑scale resorts, backed by a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Civil).
• Strong technical grounding across HVAC & refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, fire and life safety, mechanical equipment, and Building Management Systems, supported by relevant certifications (HVAC, Electrical‑K3, OSHA‑K3, Boiler Operations, or similar).
• A natural ability to lead, coach and develop a technical team, with confidence managing contractors, budgets and cross‑departmental relationships.
• Comfort with digital maintenance tools such as EMS or similar systems, alongside strong planning, organizing and problem‑solving instincts.
• Calm, clear communication and resilience under pressure, with a proactive and adaptable approach to daily challenges.
