Job summary

Leighton Asia Limited in Batam, Indonesia, seeks a senior design engineer to coordinate all temporary and permanent works design activities, ensuring compliance with engineering and contractual obligations.

You will lead multidisciplinary teams, manage procurement and construction interfaces, liaise with authorities, and promote safety, quality, and knowledge sharing across the project. Data center experience would be an advantage but is not mandatory.

Qualifications

• Bachelor level degree in Architectural Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ to 10+ years postgraduate experience with 5+ years in current role.
• Multi-discipline project experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail with commitment to quality & workplace safety.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
• Data Center experience would be an advantage but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate all temporary and permanent works design and design consultant activities to ensure compliance with engineering requirements and contractual obligations.
• Coordinate the quality of the works including procurement of material to keep construction on schedule.
• Supervise civil engineering activities and the work of subordinates on design to ensure field progress within safety and quality guidelines.
• Develop and communicate project designs, schedules, costs, results and improvements for end-users with project management support.
• Coordinate with external stakeholders (client and technical representatives) and local authorities to obtain timely approvals.
• Enforce safe and environmentally friendly working procedures to maintain a strong safety record and compliance with statutory requirements and HSE expectations.
• Perform knowledge sharing to enhance professional development within the organization.

Key Accountabilities:

1. To coordinate all temporary and permanent works design and design consultant activities in order to ensure compliance with relevant engineering requirements along with technical and commercial contractual obligations.
2. To coordinate the quality of the works including procurement of material (permanent and temporary works) in a timely manner in order to ensure construction continues as scheduled.
3. To supervise civil engineering activities and the work of subordinates on design in order to ensure construction works are carried out as per program within safety and quality guidelines.
4. To develop & communicate project designs, schedules, cost, results and recommended improvements effectively to end-users in order to allow them to be successfully implemented in the field with the support of project management.
5. To coordinate with external community (client and technical representatives) and local authorities in order to ensure approvals are obtained in a timely manner.
6. To enforce safe and environmentally friendly working procedures in order to ensure the excellent safety record and encourage employee participation in health and safety matters in order to comply with statutory requirements and HSE expectation.
7. To perform knowledge sharing in order to enhance the professional development within the organization.
