Job summary

Subzero Logistics Sdn Bhd is expanding its air freight division and seeks a hands-on leader to own end-to-end air freight operations, including export and import, airline relationships, and service performance. You will manage P&L, oversee documentation, and drive KPI improvements while building a high-performing team.

Ideal candidate brings 3+ years in air freight with supervisory experience, strong network with airlines and agents, and proven negotiation skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years in air freight forwarding with at least 3 years in a supervisory/managerial role.
• Solid knowledge of air export/import documentation, INCOTERMS 2020, IATA rules, AWB issuance.
• Proven track record negotiating airline/co-loader rates and managing a department P&L.
• Strong network with airlines, GSAs and overseas agents.
• Excellent command of English and Bahasa Malaysia; able to liaise with China-based partners.
• Willing to travel and respond outside office hours during peak/AOG situations.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily air export and import operations: bookings, space allocation, AWB/MAWB/HAWB issuance, consolidation, ULD planning and on-time uplift.
• Oversee customs declarations via SMK/uCustoms, permits, and compliance with Royal Malaysian Customs requirements.
• Manage handling of dangerous goods, perishables, pharma/cold chain, oversized/high-value shipments per IATA DGR and GDP standards.
• Monitor KPIs and drive corrective actions to improve on-time performance and accuracy.
• Negotiate rates, allotments and contracts with airlines, GSAs, co-loaders, and overseas agents; secure space in peak season.
• Own the division's gross profit: tariffs, yield per kg, quotations and cost leakage control.
• Support sales on tenders and RFQs; participate in client visits and presentations.
• Grow air freight business in FMCG sectors; lead and develop the team; conduct reviews and training.
• Serve as escalation point for customers and partners.

Job description

Reporting to the Managing Director, you will lead our air freight operations end-to-end — export and import — owning the P&L, airline relationships and service performance of the department.

Key responsibilities

Lead daily air export and import operations: bookings, space allocation, AWB/MAWB/HAWB issuance, consolidation, ULD planning and on-time uplift.

Ensure accurate and timely customs declarations via SMK/uCustoms, permits (MITI, MIDA, SIRIM, DCA, Pharmacy) and compliance with Royal Malaysian Customs requirements.

Oversee handling of special cargo — dangerous goods, perishables, pharma/cold chain, oversized and high-value shipments — in line with IATA DGR and TAPA/GDP standards where applicable.

Monitor KPIs (on-time departure, transit time, damage/claims ratio, documentation accuracy) and drive corrective action.

Negotiate rates , allotments and contracts with airlines, GSAs, co-loaders and overseas agents; secure competitive buying rates and guaranteed space in peak season.

Own the division's gross profit: build tariffs, control yield per kg, approve quotations and manage cost leakage.

Support the sales team on tenders, RFQs and customer presentations; join key client visits.

Grow the existing account base and develop new air freight business in FMCG related sectors.

Manage, roster and develop a team of operations and documentation staff; conduct performance reviews and training.

Serve as escalation point for customers, airlines, ground handlers and overseas partners.

About you

Minimum 3 years in air freight forwarding, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.

Solid working knowledge of air export/import documentation, INCOTERMS 2020, IATA rules, AWB issuance and Malaysian customs procedures.

Proven track record negotiating airline/co-loader rates and managing a department P&L.

Strong existing network with airlines, GSAs and overseas agents.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel and freight forwarding systems.

Excellent command of English and Bahasa Malaysia; be able to liase with China-based partners.

Willing to travel and to respond outside office hours during peak/AOG situations.

IATA/FIATA Diploma, IATA DGR certification, or Customs Agent licence (Akta Kastam 90).

Experience with pharma cold chain / e-commerce cross-border cargo.

Exposure to charter and part-charter arrangements.
