Job summary

PT Tolan Tiga Indonesia seeks an experienced Agronomy Manager to lead the regional delivery of agronomy services across oil palm plantations in Sumatera. You will translate company standards into field actions, manage KPI reporting, and drive measurable yield improvements.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or related discipline and at least 5 years of leadership in multi-estate agronomy, with strong IPM, nutrition, and soil/water expertise.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Forestry, Soil Science, Crop Protection or related discipline.
  • 5 years of experience as an Agronomy Manager in oil palm agronomy or plantation environments, including supervision of multiple estates.
  • Competence in nutrition, IPM, soil and water management, field auditing, trials, statistics, and technical writing.

Responsibilities

  • Lead regional agronomy planning, yield analysis, KPI monitoring, and reporting.
  • Coordinate palm nutrition, field audits, and IPM implementation across estates.
  • Provide site-specific agronomy recommendations and monitor implementation and effectiveness.
  • Manage regional OMP data, trials, and staff coaching across estates.

Job description

To manage and continually improve the delivery of agronomy services within the assigned region, translating company standards and technical recommendations into verified field implementation and measurable improvements in yield, palm health, and resource management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Regional Planning & Yield Intensification

Prepare the regional agronomy work plan, priorities, visit schedule, KPI monitoring, and management reports in line with Head Office direction.

Coordinate establishment and management of BMP and Reference Blocks, verify data integrity, analyse yield gaps, and agree improvement actions with estate management.

Review crop performance, block history, field standards, and agronomic constraints; provide timely site-specific recommendations and follow-up.

Palm Nutrition & Field Auditing

Coordinate leaf, soil, rachis, vegetative, and visual assessments; validate inputs for mature, immature, and nursery fertiliser programmes.

Support approved partners and laboratories during fieldwork, review outputs, and monitor implementation and effectiveness of recommendations.

Plan, calibrate, and review agronomy field audits, censuses, fertiliser‑quality checks, and palm‑health monitoring in accordance with SOPs.

Pests, Diseases, Soil, Water & Nursery

Ensure regular and effective pest and disease monitoring, appropriate escalation, approved treatment advice, accurate records, and IPM implementation across the region.

Monitor Ganoderma, beneficial plants, barn owls, and other IPM programmes and report results at the required frequency.

Review soil conservation, erosion, peat/mineral water management, drainage, and by‑product application; train estate teams and verify corrective actions.

Coordinate agronomy support to regional nurseries, planting-material assessment, and nursery records.

OMP, Trials, People & Reporting

Manage monthly updating and validation of the regional OMP database; use OMP and other data to identify risks and communicate actionable findings.

Coordinate approved field trials, ensure protocol compliance and data integrity, and report progress and results.

Supervise, coach, deploy, and evaluate regional agronomy staff; standardise methods and maintain safe, competent field practice.

Maintain close links with each OU through regular visits and provide concise progress, risk, and action reports to the Senior Manager Agronomy.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Forestry, Soil Science, Crop Protection or related discipline.

5 years of experience as an Agronomy Manager in substantial oil palm agronomy or plantation experience, including supervision and multi‑estate field responsibilities.

Competence in nutrition, IPM, soil and water management, field auditing, trials, statistics, and technical writing.

Technical knowledge and sound judgement appropriate to the role.

Planning, organisation, monitoring, and timely completion of assigned work.

Clear communication, teamwork, service orientation, and constructive stakeholder engagement.

Accuracy, integrity, confidentiality, accountability, and compliance with company policies.

Initiative, problem‑solving, learning agility, and commitment to continuous improvement.

Leadership, coaching, field diagnosis, risk‑based prioritisation, and confident engagement with estate management.

Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OMP/Agrisoft; Power BI/GIS exposure is an advantage.

Proficient in Bahasa Indonesia; working English desirable

The deed of establishment was approved by the Minister of Justice in his decision letter No. J.A 5/98/22 dated September 21, 1961 and was published in State Gazette of the Republic of Indonesia No. 97 dated December 5, 1961, Supplement No. 650. The company is further established to be a management company for the SIPEF Group, Jabelmalux Group, and PT.
