Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or above in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Water Engineering or related discipline.
  • Significant leadership experience within a Civil/Structural engineering or consultancy environment.
  • Proven WSP track record in delivering Future Ready projects, with specific examples of change management.
  • High-potential candidates with a strong track record of progression, client leadership, and business impact will be considered.
  • Strong technical background in Water infrastructure projects.
  • Proven track record in business development, client management, and revenue growth.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior-level clients and stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial acumen with a history of delivering sound financial results.
  • Willing to travel as required to support client, project, and business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of business strategies and growth plans for the Water team.
  • Provide leadership and direction to teams delivering Water projects.
  • Be accountable for the financial performance of the business, including revenue growth, margins, and delivery quality.
  • Identify and capitalise on market opportunities to expand WSP’s presence and influence in the infrastructure sector.
  • Act as a senior representative of WSP in client meetings, project steering groups, statutory engagements, and industry forums.
  • Build and maintain strong, long‑term relationships with key clients, government bodies, and strategic partners.
  • Lead or support major bids, proposals, and negotiations, ensuring strong commercial positioning and risk management.
  • Enhance WSP’s reputation as a trusted leader in Water infrastructure projects.
  • Oversee the day‑to‑day operations of the Water team, ensuring alignment with governance and policies.
  • Be accountable for the delivery of projects, including quality, safety, programme, resources, and commercial performance.
  • Ensure effective risk management across proposals, projects, and resourcing decisions.
  • Drive consistent application of operational excellence, technical standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Provide strong, visible leadership to build and sustain a high‑performing Water team.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop senior engineers and emerging leaders within the team.
  • Ensure compliance with people management policies, legal, and statutory obligations.
  • Drive engagement, retention, and talent attraction, ensuring the team is well‑resourced and future‑ready.
  • Set clear objectives and performance expectations, providing timely feedback and fair performance evaluations.
