Job summary

International Christian Schools Limited in Hong Kong seeks an experienced university advisor to guide grades 9–12 students through the college process and admissions. You will conduct interviews, workshops, and provide essay and interview guidance to help students secure places at international universities.

The role requires knowledge of global admissions trends, strong English communication, and experience with Hong Kong university applications.

Qualifications

• Strong passion and commitment to Christian education, and the ability to integrate biblical principles in their professional practice.
• Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Education, Psychology, Higher Education, or related discipline from an accredited university.
• Three+ years of relevant experience in university advising or college counseling preferred.
• Familiarity with MaiaLearning, UCAS and other international admissions platforms is preferred.
• Updated knowledge of college admission trends and career guidance resources.
• Experience with Hong Kong university applications and admissions requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide students with guidance on academic and career development in grades 9-12 through regular interviews and workshops.
• Assist students and oversee progress through the college application process and transition to university, including essay and interview guidance.
• Coordinate the preparation and submission of transcripts, recommendations, school reports, and other supporting application documents.
• Schedule and conduct meetings and seminars for parents, college representatives; and coordinate events such as Destination month.
• Advise students on course selection and provide information on how their high school courses, achievements, and involvement will influence college admissions.
• Maintain current knowledge of global university admissions trends through professional associations, conferences, campus visits, and engagement with admissions representatives.
• Communicate university advising programmes, admissions processes, and post-secondary planning information effectively to students, parents, and faculty.
• Participate in administrative tasks that are core to the school’s operation, such as service on committees, as well as engagement in co-curricular activities.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

Strong passion and commitment to Christian education, and the ability to integrate biblical principles in their professional practice.

A bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Education, Psychology, Higher Education, or a related discipline awarded by an accredited university. Teaching and/or university advising experience in an international school setting is preferred.

Three or more years of relevant experience in university advising or college counseling preferred.

Familiarity with MaiaLearning, UCAS and other international admissions platforms is preferred.

Updated knowledge and resources regarding trends and research regarding college admission requirements, and career guidance.

Experience with Hong Kong university applications and admissions requirements.

High command of written and spoken English.

Ability to demonstrate empathy and exceptional interpersonal skills.

Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and support students with professionalism, empathy, and integrity.

A team player with a positive attitude and growth mindset, and the ability to interact positively with faculty, students, and parents in all aspects of school life.

Fully cognizant of the need to work outside normal school hours, including evenings and weekends, when required.
