Job summary

International Christian School is seeking a passionate High School Science Teacher to join our Hong Kong campus starting July 2027. The successful candidate will foster a biblically-informed, inquiry-driven science program and support students’ intellectual and spiritual growth.

Qualifications

• Must have a strong commitment to Christian education and biblical integration in teaching.
• Experience teaching secondary science, preferably in international schools.
• Experience teaching advanced courses (AP Biology/Chemistry) and NGSS familiarity is desirable.

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Create and maintain a positive learning environment that promotes positive relationships, and contributes to the intellectual and spiritual growth of students.
• Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons that align with the school's curriculum policies to provide clear objectives and learning outcomes in high school science courses, including Biology and other science subjects as assigned.
• Enthuse and motivate students, inspiring participation and raising levels of attainment.
• Implement standards-based grading and assessments that facilitate effective feedback according to students' proficiency levels for specific knowledge and skills standards.
• Promote the welfare of children and support ICS in safeguarding children through relevant policies and procedures.
• Maintain regular communication and trust with parents in a welcoming, engaging, and collaborative manner.
• Work effectively and efficiently with other faculty members in grade and subject teams.
• Participate in administrative tasks that are core to the school's operation, such as curriculum management, service on committees, as well as engagement in co-curricular activities.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

• Strong passion and commitment to Christian education, and the ability to integrate biblical principles in their teaching.
• A bachelor's degree major in Education, Biology or related disciplines, with a PGCE/PGDE or equivalent awarded by an accredited university. Supervised teaching practice of Biology/Chemistry (K-12) must be a required component of the teacher training programme (e.g. BEd., PGCE or PGDE).
• Successful experience teaching secondary science, preferably in a college-preparatory or international school setting.
• Experience teaching advanced secondary science courses (e.g. AP Biology or AP Chemistry) and familiarity with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) are highly desirable.
• Demonstrated ability to engage students in scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and evidence-based problem solving.
• Experience planning and facilitating laboratory investigations while maintaining appropriate laboratory safety standards.
• Strong classroom and laboratory management skills, with a demonstrated commitment to student safety and effective science instruction.
• A team player with a positive attitude and growth mindset, and the ability to interact positively with faculty, students, and parents in all aspects of school life.
