We are looking for a competent and detail-oriented Toy Laboratory Engineer (Electrical & Mechanical) to join our Hardlines – Toy Lab in Hong Kong. In this role, you will play a key part in expanding our testing capabilities by establishing, executing, and securing ISO 17025 accreditation for EN 62115, while supporting existing mechanical toy testing activities.
Key responsibilities
- Set up and perform safety testing for electric toys in strict accordance with EN 62115 and other relevant international standards, including drafting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Handle samples and conduct physical and mechanical tests on toys according to international safety requirements.
- Support Toy Lab Assistant Manager and Lab Manager in preparing validation data, uncertainty budgets, and technical documentation for HOKLAS/CNAS accreditation.
- Operate, maintain, and perform daily checks and basic calibration on electrical testing equipment.
- Maintain, record, and archive testing-related quality activities and raw data as required by the Quality Manual and testing procedures.
- Report testing failures, equipment malfunctions, and any quality deviations promptly to Senior Engineer / Toy Lab Assistant Manager / Quality Manager.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of laboratory testing efficiency and quality control processes.
- Perform other ad‑hoc laboratory duties as assigned by Senior Engineer, Toy Lab Assistant Manager, or Hardlines Lab Manager.
Education and experience
- Higher Diploma, Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum 2–3 years of hands‑on experience in toy testing, with a strong focus on EN 62115 (Electric Toys – Safety).
- Experience with ISO 17025 quality systems and HOKLAS/CNAS accreditation processes is highly preferred.
Skills and competencies
- Solid understanding of electrical safety concepts (e.g. heating/temperature rise, moisture resistance, electric strength, abnormal operation/locked-rotor, battery compartment captive screw requirements).
- Familiarity with electrical measurement instruments and test equipment.
- Good command of English and Chinese, both written and spoken.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, and commitment to laboratory quality standards.
