Job summary

Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated in Hong Kong seeks a facilities technician to perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on PDUs, UPS, cooling equipment and generator sets. You will support battery testing, thermal imaging surveys, and component replacements under supervision.

The role requires 1–3 years in data centres or telecom facilities, Cantonese fluency, and familiarity with CMMS/DCIM. Shift work including nights and weekends is expected.

Qualifications

• Certificate, Higher Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Installation or Building Services Engineering.
• 1–3 years of data centre or telecom facility experience in Hong Kong.
• Basic understanding of single-line diagrams and P&IDs.
• Proficiency in Cantonese; English reading ability.
• Familiarity with safety protocols and PPE.
• Trade qualifications (e.g., Registered Electrical Worker) are an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on PDUs, UPS, cooling equipment and generators.

• Complete shift logs and work orders in paper and CMMS/DCIM.
• Prepare site access forms, verify permits-to-work, and maintain visitor logs.
• Maintain 5S standards in plant rooms and technical areas.
• Respond to alarms and escalate to senior engineers.
• Comply with Hong Kong regulations and safety requirements.
• Work rotating shifts to cover 24/7 operations.

What this job involves:

• Perform routine inspections, basic troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance on power distribution units (PDUs), UPS systems, cooling equipment, and generator sets
• Assist in battery testing, thermal imaging surveys, and minor component replacements under supervision
• Accurately complete shift logs, equipment checklists, and work order documentation in both paper and digital formats (e.g., CMMS or DCIM)
• Support contractor mobilisation by preparing site access forms, verifying permits-to-work, and maintaining visitor logs in accordance with company and Hong Kong safety standards
• Ensure housekeeping and 5S standards are maintained in plant rooms and technical areas
• Respond to alarms or system alerts promptly and escalation issues to senior engineers as needed
• Comply with all relevant Hong Kong regulations, including the Electricity Ordinance, Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance, and fire safety requirements
• Work rotating shifts (including nights, weekends, and public holidays) to support 24/7 operations, consistent with industry practice in Hong Kong

Required Skills and Experience:

• Certificate, Higher Certificate, or Diploma in Electrical Installation, Mechanical Services, Building Services Engineering, or a related field from a Hong Kong recognised institution (e.g., IVE, HKU SPACE, or equivalent).
• 1–3 years of experience in data centres, telecom facilities, commercial building engineering teams, or industrial plants in Hong Kong.
• Basic understanding of single-line diagrams, P&IDs, and technical schematics.
• Proficiency in Cantonese (spoken and written); working knowledge of English for reading technical documents.
• Familiarity with safety protocols and use of PPE in high-risk environments.
• Strong attention to detail, punctuality, and ability to follow written procedures precisely.
• Possession of or eligibility for relevant trade qualifications (e.g., Registered Electrical Worker Grade B/C) is an advantage.
