We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Teacher of Computer Science and Robotics to join our school and contribute to a forward-thinking Computing and STEM provision. This is an excellent opportunity for a talented practitioner to teach Computer Science across Key Stage 3 and to deliver Cambridge IGCSE and AS/A-Level Computer Science (which would be advantageous depending on the experience), while helping to develop our school-based KS3 Computer Science and Robotics programme in partnership with STEM.

The successful candidate will plan and deliver engaging, challenging and well-sequenced lessons that develop pupils’ computational thinking, programming skills, problem-solving ability and understanding of robotics and emerging technologies. They will work closely with colleagues in Computing and the STEM partnership to ensure that KS3 provision is practical, creative and aligned with the school’s curriculum aims. The successful candidate will also serve as a Form Tutor, providing day-to-day pastoral support to a tutor group and working closely with the pastoral team.

This role is central to our school’s mission. Computer Science and Robotics are not add-ons. They are core parts of how we help pupils understand, shape and succeed in a rapidly changing technological world.

  • Use a range of teaching strategies, practical activities, projects and digital tools to foster curiosity, creativity and deep understanding.
  • Build students’ foundations at KS3 for IGCSE Computer Science and prepare students for IGCSE and A-Level exams, including effective exam technique and controlled assessment or practical components where applicable
  • Contribute to the development and sharing of high‑quality teaching resources within the department.

Curriculum and Robotics/STEM Partnership:

  • Contribute to the design, sequencing, delivery and review of the KS3 Computer Science and Robotics curriculum in partnership with STEM.
  • Collaborate with STEM partners to plan and deliver robotics modules, projects, enrichment activities and practical challenges.
  • Support the effective use of robotics equipment, kits, software and related resources, including maintenance and safe storage.
  • Help embed links between Computer Science, Robotics, STEM and wider curriculum areas.
  • Keep abreast of developments in Computer Science, robotics, artificial intelligence and STEM education, and contribute to curriculum innovation.

  • Monitor the academic progress, wellbeing and engagement of tutees and respond to concerns appropriately.
  • Deliver the school’s Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education programme and tutor programme to your form.
  • Support the implementation of the school’s behaviour and rewards systems within the tutor group.
  • Communicate with parents and carers about pastoral and academic matters, as appropriate.
  • Work closely with the Head of Year and pastoral team to support pupils.
