Job summary

Pinpoint Asia partners with a massive, highly stable enterprise operating a dedicated AI Lab in Hong Kong. This leadership role blends technical oversight with internal management consulting to identify where AI can solve business problems, build the business case, and lead the technical team to deliver it.

You will lead, coach, and scale a team delivering ML, predictive analytics, and GenAI solutions while partnering with business leaders to translate challenges into actionable data projects

Qualifications

• A commercially minded data professional with a degree in Data Science, CS, Stats, or Math.
• At least 1 years of formal people management experience (hiring, performance reviews, coaching).
• A strong foundation in machine learning and Python, coupled with a practical understanding of Generative AI (LLMs, RAG, AI Agents).
• Exceptional stakeholder management skills. You must be comfortable challenging assumptions, negotiating scope, and translating complex math into plain business English.
• A background in tech consulting or an internal commercial data team (retail, pricing, merchandising experience is highly advantageous).

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and scale a team of Data Scientists delivering ML, predictive analytics, and GenAI solutions.
• Partner directly with business leaders to understand their challenges, structure ambiguous problems, and translate them into actionable data science projects.
• Own the commercial viability of AI solutions—develop business cases evaluating expected benefits, feasibility, and time-to-value.
• Provide technical oversight on model selection, evaluation methods, and code quality (primarily Python-based).
• Navigate cross-functional dependencies, working alongside Machine Learning Engineers, IT, and Data Engineering to ensure models actually make it into production.
