The ideal candidate holds a WSET certificate, has experience in hotel F&B, and is passionate about delivering exceptional service. Cantonese, English, and Mandarin language skills are advantageous.

Qualifications

• Holder of WSET certificate.
• With relevant working experience in hotel Food & Beverage.
• Pre-opening experience in a luxury hotel advantageous.
• Passionate about delivering an exceptional F&B service.
• Pleasant, presentable and service-oriented with strong interpersonal skills.
• Fluency in Cantonese, English and Mandarin is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a delighted bar and dining experience to guests.
• Oversee and maintain smooth operations in bar areas.
• Understand guests’ needs and provide excellent service and professional recommendations.
• Maintain updated beverage lists and accurate sales records.
• Monitor storage, aging rotation and temperature of stock in beverage storeroom.
• Serve all beverage orders in accordance with proper procedures.
• Provide on-the-job training to bar and service teams.
• Follow HACCP standards at all times.

About the job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong within Food & Beverage Division in Hong Kong, the Sommelier/Junior Sommelier is responsible for providing the beverage service. To be involved in the daily operation of the restaurant and to serve wines and spirits in the restaurants. The Sommelier/Junior Sommelierreports to the Beverage Director.

As Sommelier/Junior Sommelier, you will be responsible for the following duties:

• Deliver a delighted bar and dining experience to our guests
• Oversee and maintain smooth and efficient operations in the bar areas
• Understand guests’ needs and deliver excellent service and professional recommendation
• Ensure that the beverage lists are updated and maintain accurate sales records
• Monitor the proper storage, aging rotation and temperature of all stock in beverage storeroom in a daily basis
• Serve all beverage order in accordanc with proper procedures
• Provide on-the-job training to the bar team and service team in all aspects of the beverage service and knowledge
• Follow and apply HACCP standards at all times

As Sommelier/Junior Sommelier, we expect from you:

• Holder of WSET certificate
• With relevant working experience in similar capacity in hotel Food & Beverage, preferably with pre-opening experience in a luxury hotel
• Passionate about delivering an exceptional F&B service
• Pleasant, presentable, service -oriented, a team player withinterpersonal skills
• Proficient in Cantonese, English and Mandarin is an advantage
