Job summary

Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong is seeking a Sommelier for Terrace Boulud to join the Food & Beverage Service team. You will be responsible for delivering beverage service, wine and spirit expertise, and contributing to daily restaurant operations under the Beverage Director - Terrace Boulud.

Based at Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong, the role requires strong guest service, knowledge of beverage trends, and collaboration with a luxury hospitality team.

Qualifications

• Holder of WSET certificate.
• At least 2 years of relevant working experience in hotel Food & Beverage.
• Passionate about delivering an exceptional F&B service.
• Pleasant, presentable and service-oriented with good communication skills.
• Proficiency in Cantonese, English and Mandarin is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a delighted bar and dining experience to our guests.
• Maintain smooth and efficient operations in the bar areas.
• Understand guests’ needs and deliver excellent service and professional recommendations.
• Ensure that the beverage lists are updated and maintain accurate sales records.
• Monitor the proper storage, aging rotation and temperature of all stock in beverage storeroom daily.
• Serve all beverage orders in accordance with proper procedures.
• Provide on-the-job training to bartenders and the service team in beverage service and knowledge.
• Follow HACCP standards at all times.

About the job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong within Food & Beverage Service Division in Hong Kong, the Sommelier - Terrace Boulud is responsible for providing the beverage service. To be involved in the daily operation of the restaurant and to serve wines and spirits in the restaurants. The Sommelier - Terrace Boulud reports to the Beverage Director - Terrace Boulud.

As Sommelier - Terrace Boulud, you will be responsible for the following duties:

• Deliver a delighted bar and dining experience to our guests

• Maintain smooth and efficient operations in the bar areas

• Understand guests’ needs and deliver excellent service and professional recommendation

• Ensure that the beverage lists are updated and maintain accurate sales records

• Monitor the proper storage, aging rotation and temperature of all stock in beverage storeroom in a daily basis

• Serve all beverage order in accordance with proper procedures

• Provide on-the-job training to bartenders as well as the service team in all aspects of the beverage service and knowledge

• Follow and apply HACCP standards at all times

As Sommelier - Terrace Boulud, we expect from you:

• Holder of WSET certificate

• At least 2years of relevant working experience in similar capacity in hotel Food & Beverage, preferably with pre-opening experience in a luxury hotel

• Passionate about delivering an exceptional F&B service

• Pleasant, presentable, service -oriented, a team player with good communication and interpersonal skills

• Proficient in Cantonese, English and Mandarin is an advantage
