Job summary

Elite Concepts (Hong Kong) Limited seeks a passionate Sommelier Assistant to join our prestigious dining environment. You will support the sommelier and restaurant management in developing a curated wine program, deliver confident wine service, and engage guests with personalized recommendations.

Ideal candidates have at least 3 years in F&B/hospitality wine service, strong English and Cantonese, and Putonghua is a plus. Competitive compensation and market-rate benefits are offered.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and updating a curated wine selection for our Chinese cuisine.
• Support wine service including opening, pouring, and presentation with proper etiquette.
• Engage guests to provide wine recommendations based on preferences and menu.
• Maintain wine cellar and service areas in clean, organized condition.
• Keep accurate wine inventory and assist with stock management.
• Stay informed on new wines, trends, and industry best practices.
• Collaborate with service team to ensure seamless guest experiences.
• Uphold professionalism, hospitality and presentation standards.
• Conduct staff training sessions to enhance wine knowledge and service culture.
• Ensure compliance with laws on sale and storage of alcohol.

Job Responsibilities:

• Assist the Restaurant Manager / Sommelier in developing, updating, and maintaining an curated wine selection that complements our innovative Chinese cuisine;
• Support wine service, including opening, pouring, and presentation, ensuring proper etiquette and guest satisfaction;
• Engage with guests to provide knowledgeable wine recommendations based on their preferences and menu selections;
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the wine cellar and service areas;
• Keep accurate inventory records and assist with stock management;
• Stay informed about new wine offerings, trends, and industry best practices;
• Collaborate with the service team to deliver seamless and exceptional guest experiences;
• Uphold the highest standards of professionalism, hospitality, and presentation;
• Conduct regular training sessions for staff to enhance their knowledge of wine, and foster a culture of enthusiastic wine service among front-of-house team;
• Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations regarding the sale and storage of alcohol.

Job Requirements:

• Minimum 3 years’ relevant working experience in a similar role in the F&B or hospitality industry;
• Extensive knowledge in different wines, spirits and tasting techniques is preferred;
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with guests and staff;
• Strong communication skills with an emphasis on guest interaction;
• Good marketing and promotional skills to maximize profitability;
• Good command of both spoken and written English and Cantonese; fluent in Putonghua is preferred.
