Job summary

ASK IT LIMITED in Hong Kong seeks a senior UNIX/Linux administrator to ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of UNIX, Linux, and middleware systems. You will troubleshoot issues, perform maintenance, and apply updates to enhance performance and security, collaborating with IT teams to support business operations and keeping detailed system records.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience as a UNIX/Linux Administrator or similar role.
• Hands-on experience in AIX, Solaris, RedHat Linux administration.
• Proven experience with UNIX backup and recovery, DR planning/execution.
• Familiarity with EOS upgrades and lifecycle management.
• Formal training or certifications in AIX, Solaris, RedHat Linux are valued.
• Candidate possesses technical certifications (IBM, Oracle, Red Hat) desirable.
• Strong audit/compliance documentation, SAT, and user access review experience.
• Proficient at generating system performance and capacity reports.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Attention to detail and methodical system management approach.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and support AIX, Solaris, and RedHat Linux OS.
• Install/configure IBM WebSphere Application Server and IBM MQ environments.
• Setup and manage RedHat Linux YUM patch management.
• Perform OS and middleware upgrades and patching for EOS and security.
• Update and deploy internal CA certificates.
• Configure SNMP/PRTG for monitoring; monitor performance and capacity.
• Lead incident resolution, root-cause analysis, and preventive actions.
• Coordinate infrastructure changes, vendor liaising for hardware/software support.
• Maintain disaster recovery backups and DR failover procedures.
• Prepare monthly and annual system performance and capacity reports.
