Job summary

MTR Corporation Limited 香港鐵路有限公司 is seeking a technical leader to provide governance across rolling stock, infrastructure and systems for MTR International Business, ensuring compliance with safety legislation, standards and corporate requirements.

You will develop standards and assurance frameworks, act as the primary technical authority for projects, operations, and business development, oversee risk management and safety assurance, and lead multidisciplinary teams to foster a high

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering or related discipline.
• 12+ years in railway systems, metro operations, or infrastructure projects with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
• Corporate Membership of a recognised professional institution.
• Experience managing complex technical systems with multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to operate in a matrix organisation and influence without authority.
• Strong leadership and communication skills with commercial and operational judgement.
• Fluent English and Chinese (Putonghua).

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and governance across rolling stock, infrastructure, and systems for MTR International Business, ensuring compliance with safety legislation, standards, and corporate requirements.
• Develop, implement, and enhance technical standards, assurance frameworks, and best practices to drive safety, efficiency, and cost optimisation.
• Act as the primary technical authority, advising on projects, operations, and business development, and coordinating technical support with Headquarters and regional hubs.
• Oversee technical risk management, engineering change, and safety assurance across the full asset lifecycle, including design, testing, commissioning, and handover.
• Support major projects and bids, and build effective relationships with regulators, operators, maintainers, and external consultants.
• Lead and develop multidisciplinary engineering teams to foster a high performance, safety driven culture.

Requirements

• Degree in Engineering or a related discipline
• A minimum of 12 years’ relevant experience in railway systems, metro operations, or infrastructure projects, of which 5 years should be at managerial level
• Possession of Corporate Membership of a recognised professional institution
• Proven experience in managing complex technical systems and multidisciplinary teams, with strong problem solving and decision making capabilities
• Ability to operate effectively in a matrix organisation and influence without direct authority
• Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills, with sound commercial and operational judgement
• Excellent written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua)

Remarks

• Appointment will be made on 2-year renewable terms
• Occasional business travel is required
• Candidate with less experience may be considered for the position of Technical Manager
