Job summary

MTR Corporation Limited is seeking a Senior Technical Manager to lead governance across rolling stock, infrastructure, and systems for the International business. The role advises on projects, operations, and business development, coordinating closely with Headquarters and regional hubs.

The successful candidate will oversee risk management across the asset lifecycle, drive safety improvements, and lead multidisciplinary teams to sustain a high performance culture.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• 12+ years in railway systems, metro operations, or infrastructure projects, with 5+ years at managerial level.
• Corporate Membership of a recognised professional institution.
• Strong leadership, communication, and commercial/operational judgement (English and Chinese).

• Develop, implement, and enhance technical standards, assurance frameworks, and best practices to drive safety, efficiency, and cost optimisation.
• Act as the primary technical authority, advising on projects, operations, and business development, coordinating with Headquarters and regional hubs.
• Oversee technical risk management, engineering change, and safety assurance across the full asset lifecycle.
• Support major projects and bids, and build relationships with regulators, operators, maintainers, and external consultants.
• Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams to foster a high performance, safety driven culture.

• Provide technical leadership and governance across rolling stock, infrastructure, and systems for MTR International Business, ensuring compliance with safety legislation, standards, and corporate requirements
• Develop, implement, and enhance technical standards, assurance frameworks, and best practices to drive safety, efficiency, and cost optimisation
• Act as the primary technical authority, advising on projects, operations, and business development, and coordinating technical support with Headquarters and regional hubs
• Oversee technical risk management, engineering change, and safety assurance across the full asset lifecycle, including design, testing, commissioning, and handover
• Support major projects and bids, and build effective relationships with regulators, operators, maintainers, and external consultants
• Lead and develop multidisciplinary engineering teams to foster a high performance, safety driven culture

Requirements

• Degree in Engineering or a related discipline
• A minimum of 12 years’ relevant experience in railway systems, metro operations, or infrastructure projects, of which 5 years should be at managerial level
• Possession of Corporate Membership of a recognised professional institution
• Proven experience in managing complex technical systems and multidisciplinary teams, with strong problem solving and decision making capabilities
• Ability to operate effectively in a matrix organisation and influence without direct authority
• Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills, with sound commercial and operational judgement
• Excellent written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua)

Remarks

• Appointment will be made on 2-year renewable terms
• Occasional business travel is required
• Candidate with less experience may be considered for the position of Technical Manager
