Job summary

A leading non-profit international educational institution in Hong Kong is recruiting a Senior Finance Manager to support the Assistant Director of Finance. You will lead month-end and year-end closings, review schedules and reconciliations, and ensure the integrity of management accounts, statutory reports and other financial reporting requirements.

You will prepare management analyses, budgets and forecasts, oversee procurement governance, support governance committees and external audits,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance
  • Professional accounting qualification with membership in a recognized international accounting body
  • Minimum of 8 years' relevant experience in accounting and financial management, including at least 4 years in a leadership or managerial capacity
  • Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and management accounting
  • Experience working within large-scale, multi-stakeholder, or complex organizational environments; exposure to the education sector is advantageous
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and meet demanding deadlines
  • Proactive, organized, and solutions-driven, with a strong commitment to continuous improvement
  • Ability to engage confidently with senior executives, auditors, regulators, and governance committees
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to build, motivate, and develop high-performing teams
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and ERP systems such as SAP
  • Strong communication skills in English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua)

Responsibilities

  • Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes, including reviewing schedules, reconciliations, and complete financial statements.
  • Ensure the timely preparation, accuracy, and integrity of management accounts, statutory reports, and other financial reporting requirements.
  • Prepare and review management reports, financial analyses, budget performance reports, and variance explanations for senior leadership.
  • Provide financial oversight on procurement matters, including reviewing purchase orders and ensuring compliance with established policies.
  • Coordinate the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and regulatory submissions required by relevant authorities.
  • Support responses to inquiries and reporting requests from government and regulatory bodies.
  • Deliver financial analysis and insights to identify business trends, assess risks, and support strategic decision-making.
  • Prepare, review, and coordinate finance-related papers and presentations for various governance committees and board-level meetings.
  • Oversee daily finance operations, ensuring strong data governance, system integrity, and effective use of ERP platforms.
  • Supervise accounting activities and ensure compliance with finance policies, procedures, and internal control requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, strengthen internal controls, and drive best practices across finance functions.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant statutory requirements, accounting standards, and governance frameworks.
  • Manage external audit engagements, including audit planning, coordination, issue resolution, and implementation of recommendations.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop finance team members to enhance performance and professional growth.
  • Partner with academic, administrative, and operational departments on finance-related initiatives and projects.
  • Oversee the assessment and administration of financial assistance programs while maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Undertake administrative responsibilities and ad hoc projects as assigned.

Minimum of 8 years' relevant experience in accounting and financial management, including at least 4 years in a leadership or managerial capacity.

Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and management accounting.

Experience working within large-scale, multi-stakeholder, or complex organizational environments; exposure to the education sector is advantageous.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and meet demanding deadlines.
