Job summary

The Bank of East Asia, Limited in Hong Kong is seeking an experienced IT professional to deliver, enhance and support mission-critical core banking and branch service systems, driving modernization and digital transformation initiatives.

You will work with business units, vendors and technology teams to implement scalable, customer-centric solutions, lead full development lifecycles, and ensure regulatory compliance across platforms.

Qualifications

• 5+ years IT experience with at least 3 years in banking application development.
• Strong knowledge of core banking processes and IBM Mainframe technologies (z/OS, CICS, COBOL, JCL, DB2).
• Experience in API integration, microservices, and application modernization is highly desirable.
• Exposure to mainframe transformation and digital banking platforms.
• Hands-on Java development (Java EE/Spring), RESTful APIs, and enterprise integration.
• Experience in Linux/Windows server environments for deployment and production support.
• Proficient in written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese + Mandarin).

Responsibilities

• Deliver, enhance and support core banking and branch service systems.
• Drive modernization and digital transformation while ensuring stability and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, vendors and tech teams to deliver scalable banking solutions.
• Lead analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and production support for core banking systems.
• Drive core banking modernization initiatives and support integration with digital channels.
• Gather requirements, conduct impact assessments, and deliver technology solutions.
• Support and enhance applications including CASA, Time Deposits, FX, Autopay, Cheque Clearing, Branch Ticketing, i-Device.
• Manage vendors to ensure quality delivery and adherence to service commitments.
• Collaborate with onshore and offshore teams to optimize delivery.
• Troubleshoot production issues and perform root cause analysis.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to team capability development.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
