Job summary

The Bank of East Asia, Limited in Hong Kong is seeking an experienced IT professional to deliver, enhance and support mission-critical core banking and branch service systems, driving modernization and digital transformation initiatives.

You will work with business units, vendors and technology teams to implement scalable, customer-centric solutions, lead full development lifecycles, and ensure regulatory compliance across platforms.

Qualifications

• 5+ years IT experience with at least 3 years in banking application development.
• Strong knowledge of core banking processes and IBM Mainframe technologies (z/OS, CICS, COBOL, JCL, DB2).
• Experience in API integration, microservices, and application modernization is highly desirable.
• Exposure to mainframe transformation and digital banking platforms.
• Hands-on Java development (Java EE/Spring), RESTful APIs, and enterprise integration.
• Experience in Linux/Windows server environments for deployment and production support.
• Proficient in written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese + Mandarin).

• Drive application development, core banking modernization, and digital transformation initiatives while ensuring system stability, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance
• Work closely with business stakeholders, vendors, and technology teams to deliver innovative, scalable, and customer-centric banking solutions.
• Lead system analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and production support for core banking and branch systems.
• Drive core banking modernization initiatives and support integration with digital banking channels and enterprise platforms.
• Partner with business units to gather requirements, conduct impact assessments, and deliver effective technology solutions that meet business objectives.
• Support and enhance applications covering CASA, Time Deposits, Foreign Exchange, Autopay, Cheque Clearing, Branch Ticketing, i-Device, and related banking services.
• Manage vendors and technology partners to ensure quality delivery, operational efficiency, and adherence to service commitments.
• Collaborate with onshore and offshore technology teams to optimize resource utilization and project delivery.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures to improve system reliability and performance.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to team capability development.

Requirements

• Degree holder in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related disciplines.
• Minimum 5 years of IT experience, including at least 3 years in banking application development.
• Strong knowledge of core banking business processes and IBM Mainframe technologies, including z/OS, CICS, COBOL, JCL, and DB2.
• Experience in API integration, microservices, and application modernization is highly desirable.
• Exposure to mainframe transformation, digital banking platforms, and mission-critical multi-vendor environments is an advantage.
• Hands-on experience in Java application development using Java EE/Spring Framework, RESTful API development, and enterprise integration technologies.
• Experience in Linux and Windows server environments, including application deployment, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and production support.
• Strong analytical, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese + Mandarin)
