Job summary

G MASS Consulting, partnering with a leading hedge fund in Hong Kong, seeks a Compliance Business Analyst to join its global Compliance function. The role combines BAU control-room duties with process, data and technology improvements to strengthen controls, data quality and automation.

You will take front-to-back ownership of requirements, data lineage and issues, working with technology teams to enhance data feeds and tooling while ensuring governance and regulatory obligations are met.

Qualifications

• Strong ownership mindset and ability to take front-to-back ownership of issues across teams and data flows.
• Hands-on SQL and comfort with large, complex datasets; Python is a plus.
• Solid business-analysis skills: requirements gathering, process documentation and data analysis.
• Background in compliance, Control Room, data or related operations; not a developer role.
• Track record balancing BAU control work with change, transformation or automation initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and administer restriction lists, including watch and restricted lists, ensuring accuracy and timely updates.
• Perform position-limit monitoring across asset classes, investigating breaches, exceptions and data anomalies.
• Support information-barrier and MNPI controls, including wall-crossing procedures and need-to-know governance.
• Support sanctions screening and disclosure-of-interest obligations, including large/short position reporting.
• Act as day-to-day point of contact for the business on restriction, limit and conflicts queries with timely responses.
• Build and maintain SQL-based reports, checks and tools supporting monitoring, reducing manual processing and improving data quality.
• Develop understanding of data lineage and how data moves through systems to downstream reporting.
• Investigate data-quality issues at source and ensure controls are supported by reliable information.
• Document, review and refine Control Room procedures, controls and workflows.
• Gather and document requirements with technology teams to improve data feeds and tooling.
• Take front-to-back ownership of process and data improvements from issue definition to embedding.
• Explore opportunities to improve controls through automation and AI-enabled tooling.
• Assist with periodic reviews, regulatory requests and audit queries.
• Contribute to enhancement of the Control Room framework and its data architecture.
• Strong experience within hedge funds, investment banks, asset managers or similarly regulated environments.
