Job summary

Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) is seeking a Senior Associate in Transfer Pricing for its Asia Tax Practice in Hong Kong. You will deliver TP solutions for complex intercompany challenges, from planning to documentation and defense, collaborating with engagement teams.

The role requires ownership of day-to-day drafting, quantitative analysis, and client-ready outputs, with a focus on accurate, commercially sound recommendations. English and Chinese fluency is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related fields.
• At least 3 years of transfer pricing experience in professional services or consulting.
• Team player who can excel in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong writing, analytical, communication and organizational skills.
• Fluent in English and Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese favored).

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review Transfer Pricing documentation including local files, master files and CbCR.
• Benchmarking studies, financial transaction analyses, and defensible intercompany pricing policies.
• Conduct functional/risk analyses and model tax impact of intercompany transactions.
• Draft planning memoranda and support tax-structure recommendations.
• Present work clearly and support client deliverables with quantitative analysis.
• Mentor junior colleagues and contribute to a learning culture.
• Leverage TP technology tools and data analytics to improve documentation and efficiency.

The Team

Due to tremendous demand within the region, we are looking to hire Senior Associate candidates in our Tax Practice, with a focus on Transfer Pricing. Our broader Tax Practice covers all aspects of tax advisory services across Asia, including M&A tax due diligence, tax structuring, general tax advisory services etc.

How You Will Contribute

As a Senior Associate in our Transfer Pricing practice, you will be a core member of the engagement team, responsible for delivering high-quality and practical transfer pricing solutions to our clients' most complex intercompany challenges. You will gain exposure to the full lifecycle of transfer pricing work—from initial planning and risk assessment to documentation, implementation and defense.

Your Key Contributions Will Include

• Transfer pricing documentation: Play a hands-on role in the preparation and review of local files, master files and Country-by-Country Reporting (CbCR) documentation. You will also assist in benchmarking studies, financial transaction analysis (including loans, guarantees, and IP), and the development of defensible intercompany pricing policies.
• Technical analysis and planning: Conduct functional and risk analyses to determine the appropriate application of OECD guidelines and local regulations. You will assist in drafting planning memoranda, evaluating restructuring implications, and modelling the tax impact of proposed intercompany transactions.
• Tax controversy and audit: Assist senior team members in responding to tax authority inquiries, preparing audit defense documentation and drafting responses to information requests. You will help analyse exposure and develop strategies to resolve disputes efficiently.
• Project delivery: Take ownership of the day-to-day drafting and quantitative analysis required for client deliverables. You will ensure that all work products are technically accurate, well-supported and presented in a clear, commercially focused manner.
• Mentor junior talent: Provide guidance and technical review to Associates and Interns, helping them navigate complex datasets and understand the \why\ behind the numbers. You will foster a culture of learning and quality within the team.
• Embrace innovation: Utilize and help optimize TP technology tools and data analytics platforms to streamline documentation, benchmarking, and financial analysis, improving efficiency and accuracy across engagements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related fields
• At least 3 years of relevant transfer pricing experience, including being in a professional services or consulting firm or commercial environment
