Qualifications

Our client is a digital banking and fintech consultancy with an established pipeline of digital banking projects across South Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. With engineering teams based in Hong Kong and the UK, alongside a distributed remote workforce across Australia, Vietnam, and other locations, the company has grown to approximately 100 employees globally.

The Hong Kong office currently consists of around 20 professionals, including pioneering Technical Leads and Senior Engineers from leading digital banks and top-tier technology consulting firms. Having already secured partnerships with multiple financial institutions internationally, the company continues to expand its project portfolio across emerging markets.

The company is building a new AI Engineering team focused on developing applications and infrastructure that enable AI systems to operate safely, securely, and compliantly within large regulated enterprises, including banks and financial institutions.

They are seeking a Senior AI Engineer who can design, build, and deploy production-grade software while maintaining a strong focus on governance, auditability, reliability, and security. In this environment, "safe" and "auditable" are non-negotiable requirements.

Key Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building and delivering production software as a Backend Engineer, with strong proficiency in Python or TypeScript. Exceptional hands-on Platform Engineers will also be considered.
• Experience building or integrating AI/LLM-based systems, including technologies such as LangChain, AI Agents, RAG frameworks, or Agentic AI architectures, with a solid understanding of concepts including tool calling, gateways, session management, context handling, and evaluation frameworks.
• Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native environments. This is a core requirement for the role.
• Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar platforms.
• A strong appreciation for scalability, reliability, observability, security, and compliance requirements within enterprise environments.
