Job summary

The Bank of East Asia (BEA) in Hong Kong seeks a senior data leader to bridge data infrastructure with business innovation and to scale Data & AI capabilities across the organization.

You will drive data services, governance, and real-time architectures, partnering with Technology and business units to deliver high-quality, actionable analytics and data products.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in Data Management / Business Analytics / Data Warehouse in financial services.
• 5+ years in a leadership or managerial role.
• Proven track record delivering enterprise-level data projects from conception to production.
• Hands-on data ETL, data engineering and data product development.
• Experience with modern data orchestration (Airflow, dbt), streaming (Kafka) and visualization tools.

Responsibilities

• Assist Department Head bridging complex data infrastructure with business innovation.
• Lead design, delivery and management of data services enabling Data & AI capabilities.
• Collaborate with Technology Dept; collect requirements, data onboarding, mapping, UAT and health checks.
• Support users to access data via data mart and use cases.
• Develop and customize data tags to meet business needs using internal/external data.
• Ensure data is high-quality, accessible and a strategic asset across the Group.
• Deliver timely data & analytics to internal stakeholders.
• Define and execute DaaS vision to support group-wide initiatives.
• Empower users with self-service tools for extraction, analysis and reporting.
• Lead scalable data pipelines and architectures (Data Lake, Data Warehouse, Real-time).
• Develop robust data services for seamless and secure data consumption.
• Leverage customer data to identify business opportunities for marketing.
• Maintain data mart; ensure regulatory compliance and data governance.
• Collaborate with sponsors to gather requirements and analyze trends.
• Partner with AI & Data Solution teams ensuring AI-ready datasets.

Job description

• Assist Department Head to be the bridge between complex data infrastructure and actionable business innovation.
• Lead the design, delivery, and management of data services that empower the bank to scale its Data & AI capabilities, enhance customer experiences, and drive operational efficiency.
• Work closely with Technology Department and perform user requirement collection, data onboarding, data mapping, UAT and health check relating to data mart and Core Banking system development matters
• Support users to use data effectively through data mart and use cases
• Develop and customize data tags to meet business requirement by using internal and external data
• Ensure that data is treated as a high-quality, accessible, and strategic asset across the Group
• Deliver timely and quality data & analytics to internal stakeholders.
• Define and execute the vision for "Data-as-a-Service" (DaaS) to support group-wide innovation and Data & AI initiatives.
• Empower and enable users to use self-servicing tools for data extraction, enquiries, analysis and reporting.
• Lead the design and maintenance of scalable data pipelines and modern data architectures (Data Lake, Data Warehouse, and Real-time streaming)
• Lead the development of robust data services that allow business units to consume data seamlessly and securely
• Use of customer data, including structured and unstructured data, internal and external data, to identify business opportunities to support business and marketing initiatives
• Develop and maintain data mart
• Ensure all procedures are in compliance with all policies, rules, guidelines, requirements prescribed by regulators as well as the Bank
• Work closely with business sponsors to collect user requirements, identify opportunities, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns.
• Partner with AI & Data Solution teams to ensure the availability of high-quality "AI-ready" datasets.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors on project planning and execution.
• Lead and mentor a team of business and data analysts, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
• Comply with all applicable regulations, rules, codes, guidelines and standards set by regulators and the Bank, and carry out duties with high integrity
• Adhere to all established risk control guidelines, procedures and measures to identify, assess, report, mitigate and monitor the risks involved in the day-to-day work
• Apply good sense of access control and data governance in day-to-day process

Requirements

• University graduate in Computer Science, Applied Statistics, Decision Science, Data Science or in relevant disciplines;
• Minimum 10+ years working experience in Data Management / Business Analytics / Data Warehouse from recognized establishments in financial services and 5+ years in a leadership or managerial role
• Strong knowledge on banking data management and analysis
• Proven track record of delivering enterprise-level data projects from conception to production.
• Practical experiences on data ETL data engineering and data product development, including but not limited to data onboarding and building data mart
• Experience with modern data orchestration (Airflow, dbt), streaming (Kafka), and visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI).
• Strong knowledge on data visualization using Tableau or similar visualization tools.
• Practical experience in cloud environment (e.g. GCP, AWS, etc)
• Result-oriented and able to deliver under pressure
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Strong business acumen, interpersonal skills and a good team player
• Good command of both spoken and written English and Chinese (Cantonese + Mandarin)
