Responsibilities
- Lead the Data Section to ensure effective and efficient data-related system services and support, aligning with the Bank's short- and long-term business goals.
- Prioritize data-related projects and system change requests in line with the Bank’s business objectives, ensuring alignment with enterprise-grade data warehouse systems and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the execution of the software development life cycle (SDLC) for data projects, ensuring deliverables meet quality, timeliness, compliance, and budget requirements.
- Communicate effectively with product owners, senior management, and stakeholders to provide updates on data project statuses, issues, and risks throughout the SDLC.
- Provide timely technical support, including troubleshooting and defect resolution, to ensure continuous operation of data systems.
- Review and enhance system capacity for data platforms to support business growth, including peak loads, by implementing performance optimization strategies.
- Oversee the development and management of data teams, ensuring resources align with business and technology growth.
- Collaborate with vendors and contractors to deliver high-quality data-related software solutions, overseeing vendor management from tendering to post-implementation support.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to data team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, or equivalent.
- Minimum 10 years of IT experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role within the banking or financial industry.
- Strong leadership, influencing, and negotiation skills to secure buy-in from business and technology stakeholders.
- Extensive experience in large-scale data project management and system implementation, preferably in enterprise-grade data warehouse systems, regulatory reporting platforms, or business intelligence platforms.
- Proven expertise in SQL, ETL processes, databases, data modeling, and reporting tools.
- Demonstrated ability to manage technical teams in software application development and maintenance, with a focus on data systems.
- Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks and best practices.
- Familiarity with HKMA regulatory reporting requirements is highly desirable.
- Experience in vendor management, including tendering, contract negotiation, and post-implementation support.
- Self-motivated with excellent communication, analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and project management skills.
- Proficiency in both English and Chinese.
