Job summary

The Laboratory for Synthetic Chemistry and Chemical Biology (LSCCB) invites applications for a Research Officer position in Hong Kong Science Park. The appointee will contribute to projects at the interface of chemistry, biology and medicine, focusing on drug discovery and molecular diagnostics.

The successful candidate should hold a PhD in Chemistry or Biomedical Science, offer 3–5 years of supervisory experience and a strong publication record.

Qualifications

• PhD in Chemistry or Biomedical Science required with strong publications.
• 3–5 years of supervisory experience expected.
• Research in areas related to catalysis, organic synthesis, bioimaging or cancer-related chemistry recommended.

Responsibilities

• Lead research projects on synthetic chemistry, drug discovery and molecular diagnostics within a multidisciplinary team.
• Propose and initiate new research directions in synthetic chemistry and chemical biology for cancer research.

Applications are invited for appointment as Research Officer in the Laboratory for Synthetic Chemistry and Chemical Biology (LSCCB) in Hong Kong Science Park. Established as a research unit in Hong Kong Science Park, LSCCB integrates chemical science and biomedical science for the development of new molecular medicines.

Responsibilities

The appointee will be involved in research projects on synthetic chemistry, drug discovery and molecular diagnostics in a multidisciplinary team of chemists, biomedical and clinical scientists. They are expected to bring in new research initiatives in synthetic chemistry and chemical biology for cancer research.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess a PhD degree in Chemistry or Biomedical Science or a related discipline, with 3-5 years of supervisory experience and a publication record in one or more of the following research areas:

• catalysis
• organic synthesis
• bioinorganic chemistry
• medicinal chemistry
• cancer pharmacology
• Chinese medicine
• natural products
• metal-based therapeutics and diagnostics
• bioimaging
• mass spectrometry
• proteomics
• metabolomics
