Job summary

Intact Lab in Hong Kong seeks an experienced React Front-end Developer Senior to join the AI Engineering team. You will work within a dynamic lab environment under Intact Financial to deliver innovative AI-powered web interfaces for insurance products.

You will partner with actuaries, data scientists, and engineers in Canada and Hong Kong to design, develop, test, and deploy high-performance front-ends, leveraging React, TypeScript, and modern tooling to create excellent user experiences.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in HTML, CSS3, JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Proficiency with React front-end frameworks; Angular and Vue.js a plus.
• Experience with client-side state management and data fetching libraries.
• Experience collaborating with designers via Figma.
• Knowledge of software engineering practices: design patterns, lifecycle tools, Git, Jira, Confluence.
• Experience with Design Systems.
• Experience with automated testing from unit to end-to-end.
• Experience with AI-assisted software development.
• Understanding of web performance optimization, accessibility, and layout aesthetics.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.

Responsibilities

• Break down business requirements into technical sub-tasks with clear acceptance criteria and effort estimation.
• Lead and coach junior team members in development activities.
• Work independently on technical implementation tasks.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to discuss needs, design, and functionality of a website or interface.
• Collaborate with designers, product managers, and backend engineers.
• Create prototypes and mock-ups of websites or applications.
• Work with designers to determine the website layout.
• Provide high-quality user experiences through careful attention to detail.

In this role, you will have to opportunity to:

• Ability to break down business requirements into technical sub-tasks with clear technical acceptance criteria and effort estimation
• Lead and coach the junior team members in various development and technical activities.
• Ability to work independently on technical implementation tasks
• Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to discuss the needs, design, and functionality of a website or interface.
• Collaborate with designers, product managers and backend engineers.
• Create prototypes and mock-ups of websites or applications.
• Work with graphics and other designers to determine the website’s layout
• Strong analytical mind, curious by nature, love to solve complex problems, attention to detail, and are passionate about providing the best experience possible to your users.

Here’s what you bring to the table:

• Proficiency in HTML, CSS3, JavaScript and Typescript
• Proficiency with React front-end frameworks, (a plus for Angular, & Vue.js)
• Experience with client-side state management and data fetching libraries
• Experience collaborating with designers via Figma
• Knowledge of software engineering practices such as design patterns, the development lifecycle, and tools like Git, Jira, and Confluence
• Experience working with Design Systems
• Experience with automated testing, from unit test to end-to-end test
• Experience with AI-assisted software development
• Understanding of web performance optimization techniques, accessibility & layout aesthetics
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills

Some nice-to-haves:

• A plus on having experience with hosting web server on AWS (e.g. knowledge on AWS EC2, ECS, ECR, ALB, Docker)
• A plus on understanding and experience with API design, implementation, and lifecycle, as well as OpenAPI/Swagger specification.
