Job summary

Michael Page is recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor for a major contractor in Hong Kong. You will lead the full spectrum of pre- and post-contract QS activities, from cost estimation to final accounts, ensuring robust commercial performance across projects.

The role requires a degree in Quantity Surveying or related field and a minimum of 10 years' experience in major building projects, including façades and cladding. Strong negotiation, leadership, and HK contract knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline required.
• Minimum 10 years' QS and commercial management experience.
• Experience on façades, curtain walls, aluminium, steel, cladding, or major building projects.
• Strong knowledge of HK construction contracts and commercial practices.
• Proven leadership in commercial and QS teams.

• Sound business acumen and commercial mindset.

Responsibilities

• Lead full spectrum pre- and post-contract quantity surveying.
• Prepare cost estimates, tender submissions, pricing strategies.
• Review tender docs and contracts to identify risks and opportunities.
• Manage subcontract procurement, tender analysis, bid evaluation and awards.
• Administer contracts and ensure contractual compliance.
• Prepare, negotiate and finalize variation orders, claims and accounts.
• Monitor budgets, forecasts, profitability and commercial performance.
• Manage interim payment applications and cashflow.
• Provide commercial advice to project teams and senior management.
• Lead commercial negotiations with clients, consultants and suppliers.
• Identify and mitigate contractual risks.
• Develop relationships with developers, consultants, contractors and stakeholders.
• Prepare management reports, forecasts and performance analyses.
• Mentor and manage a team of QS and commercial staff.

The Successful Applicant

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Construction Management or related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant quantity surveying and commercial management experience.
• Proven experience in façade, curtain wall, aluminium works, steel works, cladding, E&M or major building projects.
• Strong knowledge of Hong Kong construction contracts and commercial practices.
• Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• Proven leadership experience managing commercial and QS teams.
• Sound business acumen and commercial mindset.
