Job summary

Centre for Oncology and Immunology in Hong Kong invites a Postdoctoral Fellow to join a collaborative program with the University of Hong Kong and the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre to study synthetic lethal interactions in myeloid malignancies using state-of-the-art functional genomics.

The successful candidate will perform collaborative research, contribute to the development of novel compounds against established targets, and work with interdisciplinary teams at HK Science and Technology

Qualifications

• Applicants must have a strong research background in molecular biology and related biomedical sciences.
• Experience with CRISPR/Cas9, high-throughput screening, sequencing and single cell technologies is required or highly desirable.
• Publication track record in academic research is essential.

Responsibilities

• Conduct collaborative AML research under the direction of the PI using functional genomics tools.
• Collaborate with teams at the Centre for Oncology and Immunology and Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.
• Develop novel compounds targeting established pathways in myeloid malignancies.

Job description

Job Responsibilities

The position will focus on acute myeloid leukemia under the direction of Dr. Steven Chan as part of a collaborative program between the University of Hong Kong and the University Health Network/Princess Margaret Cancer Centre (Canada). The successful candidate will work in close collaboration with the principal investigator’s scientific teams at the Centre for Oncology and Immunology and the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre to systemically decipher the synthetic lethal interactions with mutations that are commonly found in myeloid malignancies (e.g, acute myeloid leukemia) using state-of-art functional genomics tools.

Candidates are expected to perform collaborative research projects in the discovery of synthetic lethal interactions using large scale functional genomics approaches and novel animal models. Candidates will also be involved in the development of novel compounds against established targets.

Qualifications And Skills

Applicants with strong research background in Molecular Biology is required. A strong background in other fields of biomedical sciences including Cancer Biology, Genomics, Metabolomics, Bioinformatics, Single Cell Technology or Medicinal Chemistry is highly desirable.

Essential

• Possess a demonstrated track record of publishing academic research papers
• Understanding and/or experience in CRISPR/Cas9 technology, high-throughput screening techniques, next generation sequencing, and single cell sequencing technologies
• Experienced in molecular biology laboratory techniques (including cloning) and handling mammalian cell culture

Desirable

• Specialised research interest in multi-omics profiling, bioinformatics, cancer metabolism, medicinal chemistry, and drug discovery
• Experienced in mouse models, xenograft models and biobanking
• Experienced in animal handling technique

Applicants should have a good command of written and spoken English, strong communication skills, and be self-motivated, hardworking and able to work well in an interdisciplinary team.

The appointees shall work in Hong Kong Science and Technology Park.
