Job summary

Centre for Oncology and Immunology invites applications for a Bioinformatician (Ref No. 104222) to commence as soon as possible on a fixed-term basis, with renewal subject to performance. The appointee will work at the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park.

You will coordinate research projects, process clinical data, perform statistical analyses, and develop algorithms for high-throughput sequencing data analysis using Python, R, and C++. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, or related fields; cancer biology/immuno-oncology exposure preferred.
• Proficiency in programming (Python, Perl, C++, or R) and statistical software.
• Experience with high-throughput sequencing data analysis is desirable.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities

Applications are invited for appointment as Bioinformatician (Ref No. 104222), to commence as soon as possible, on a fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and mutual agreement.

• Co-ordinating research projects and developing research methods;
• Processing clinical and investigative data;
• Statistical analysis;
• Work independently on statistical modelling, algorithm development and high-throughput sequencing data analysis;
• Performing other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications And Skills

Applicants should possess a Master or PhD degree in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, or related disciplines, preferably with relevant research experience in Cancer Biology, Bioinformatics, Immuno-oncology or Single Cell Technology (scRNAseq, sc-ATACseq, 10X genomics & illumina platform); Work experiences at the local universities and research core facilities will be an asset.

Strong working knowledge of programming language (Python, Perl, C++, or R), basic data network configuration, and statistical software packages is a must. A good publication record showing competence in bioinformatics would be an advantage.

The applicants should have a good command of written and spoken English and strong communication skills, team player, self-motivated, organized, detail-minded, hardworking, willing to learn new techniques, and able to work well in a multidisciplinary team.

The appointee shall work in Hong Kong Science and Technology Park.
