The University of Hong Kong invites applications to join the JC STEM Lab of Nanomedicine for Advanced Therapy in the Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacy. The lab develops lipid-based nanomaterials for nucleic acid delivery and gene editing, focusing on cancer and neurodegenerative diseases.
Candidates will design and synthesise ionisable lipids, formulate LNPs, and collaborate with biology teams. A PhD in chemistry or related field is required, with a strong publication or patent track
Competenze
- PhD in Chemistry or related field with lipid synthesis specialization.
- Proven track record designing and synthesising novel lipids.
- Strong grounding in lipid chemistry and structure-activity relationships.
Mansioni
- Design, synthesise and optimise novel ionisable lipids for LNP formulations.
- Develop scale-up protocols for ionisable lipid candidates.
- Characterise lipids using NMR, LC-MS, and HPLC.
- Formulate and optimise LNPs with helper lipids, PEG-lipids, and cholesterol.
- Evaluate size, zeta potential, encapsulation efficiency of LNPs.
- Assess LNP delivery performance using in vitro assays before in vivo testing.
- Collaborate with biology and in vivo teams to translate lipid chemistries.
- Maintain records and contribute to IP, reports and manuscripts.
- Collaborate with external partners on scale-up and quality control.
- Supervise junior chemists and students on lipid synthesis.
- Disseminate findings through publications and conference presentations.
